Got the word today that my Elite CAR A4 is in and will be shipped out to my FFL, may even have it this weekend.

So as not to fuel the "Where is my RRA" fire, I will just say that my wait time was within the 4-12 weeks that I have seen quoted here.

So now I am off to get a second job so I can afford to buy ammo...Wait, with second job, no time to use said ammo.  DOH!

Congrats!  Buy ammo, and stock up.  No time to shoot?  No problem.  You'll be ammo-rich.  Never a bad thing...

I've been waiting for my 9mm carbine since January 19...  I'm almost philosophical about it by now.  I just can't understand why so many different things have come up to keep MY order from being filled.  Pete with Legal Transfers says that there were a number of problems, lack of bolts, barrels, even receivers, that all cropped up in succession.  It's been a royal pain waiting...

So anyway, as my "summer break" draws to a close, and once more I don't have my new carbine to shoot, I just sigh and wonder.   So Steve, what's the deal?  Are you doing extra shifts on some other project, or do 9mms take that much more work to put together?

Our assembly crew works 11 hour days M-F and another 6hrs on Saturday.  They've been running that way since late last year.  They got Easter weekend off and we're all taking all three days this weekend just to get a break.
We are slowly catching up on orders, but delays will still occasionally occur due to factors we can't control, but can only respond to...such as late vendors (eventhose who swear that the parts are going to be there on-time), parts that don't pass QC, etc...
We try to build the oldest order to the newest, but sometimes newer orders will bypass older ones if the older ones cannot be built do to parts issues, etc...
I'm certainly not trying to make excuses.  We know we're behind and, in many cases, letting some of you down, or at least not living up to your expectations.  For that we apologize.

Damn!  That's a lot more factory time than I'd imagined!  As I said, I wondered what was up, and it sounds like a LOT was up.  Parts not passing QC sounds like a big problem, and I'm not at all upset about delays due to that-though I'm sure you're not talking about two or three parts not passing either.

Get it right, and maybe expand?  Thanks for the genuine response.

GH, I've got almost the exact same deal going except that my order went in one month later (Feb 19). Please drop me a line when you get yours, maybe mine won't be far behind...

Maybe there's something about ordering on the 19th?

I'm hoping that the folks at RRA will at least give us the latest 9mm magazine they are coming out with to go with our new rifles, sounds like they should be ready soon.

Something to add is that RRA has to order parts in sufficient quantity weeks or months in advance of when they will actually need them.  Additionally, as a business you have a business plan that includes X number of employees to generate X amount of dollars.   So with any business you order and hire based on expected volume.  If that volume increases un-expectantly (which is what happened) then you find yourself short of necessary parts and people.  If you are washing cars, pretty easy thing to fix, building a quality firearm that one of the purposes is for protection of life, not so easy.

One of the reasons we are buying their product (the number one reason for my purchase) is that RRA has a reputation for building a quality rifle; I would venture to say better than any of the other manufacturers.  As such, they don't just go out and find any vendor to supply them parts or hire just anyone in order to "get caught up".  I recently called RRA to just verify my order, it was made clear that they will not sacrifice quality to reduce the wait times.  So, I was disappointed in my wait, however, I fully expect that I will never have to wait for it to be repaired due to poor workmanship.  So a few weeks upfront to save many weeks in the future, I am good with it.

I would like to personally thank ALL the people at RRA from the receptionist to the shipping clerk for their dedication to producing a quality product that is competitively priced and especially the sacrifices they are making working such long hours.

Although I have not received it yet, thanks in advance for a great product.

Steve (Not the "Steve")

My .02 cents...

Sure, we understand, and we went with RRA because we know your products will be worth the wait.  But we are also anxious to get our hands on your rifles.

How about that "new magazine" issue?  Will new 9mm carbines ship with your new magazines?
