I want to replace the Eotech 511 for a scope on my flat top.  I have started to shoot with my 15 year old son at a indoor range.  The flipup sights at 100 yards are killing my older eyes.  I want to put a 4-12 or greater scope on top, again this scope will only see the range.  Ok now the kicker I don't want to spend alot of cash for the scope and rings, (200.00 to 250.00 max) Any thoughts?

I'm hoping someone else will chime in on inexpensive optics that have worked for them under similar conditions/circumstances.

ec0075,

I have a RRA Entry Tactical with an EOtech 552.  Love it the way it is.

More to your point, however, I just ordered a RRA 20" Varmint A4.  For this rifle I have been doing a lot of research about scopes and rings.

In my opinion, just over the price point you specified, I think the best bang for the buck is the Super Sniper 10X42 available from SWFA.com.  $299.95.

Great glass, 1/4 MOA target turrets, mil dot reticle, mil spec everything.

At this price point, this would be my choice for a RRA flat top using any HIGH rings for a 30mm tube.

IMHO, to get significantly better performance, you'd have to spend three or four times that amount.

Good luck.

See....I knew someone would have some insight.  I happen to have a SS 10X42M (side focus version of the model BD recommended) and am quite pleased with it, but it is a bit more expensive than the price line you set.

Steve,
What weapon do you have your SS 10X42M mounted to?

A single shot BMG.
