I ordered one of these from RRA and picked it up today. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but have noticed a serious problem.

When I drop the bolt to chamber a round the magazine falls out of the gun! It does this about 3 out of 5 times and even when it does not fall out, it will not seat correctly and falls out eventually. It does this with the modified Uzi mag I received with the rifle as well as with the two other identical mags I ordered from RRA.

I tried it with a Colt 32rd mag and that one also drops clear every time I cycle the bolt. It does not engage the empty-mag lockback of the bolt as the catalog said it would, either.

Is there anything I can do to fix this myself or should I ship it on back? Considering that my dealer already had to send back the first one I ordered for a simmilar problem, and this is the second malfunctioning gun I have been sent, I would appreciate it if RRA would pick up the shipping.

Cheers,
Brendan Lahey

It sounds like the mag catch isn't sticking through the block quite far enough to get a firm hold on the mag.
The fix is to remove the mag catch and bend it ever so lslightly inward, then reinstall.  It isn't overly complicated, but if you aren't comfortable doing it, we can certainly do so for you.  I think that we can do a UPS call tag for it under the circumstances, but you would have to indicate that is what you want when requesting the RMA (return authorization) from our Sales department (866-980-7625).

Yeah, they authorized the return and shipping tag. It'll get sent off tomorow. I do enough home-gunsmithing on my other guns, this one is just for fun at the range so I'll let y'all deal with it.
Thanks for your help,

I have a similar problem.  Is it unacceptable to bend the catch without removing it?

To remove it, do I have to also remove the bolt catch?

I had my Beta C hit the ground three times.    Not good.

Otherwise, I really like my RRA 9mm.

The catch isn't supported by anything if you try to manipulate it inthe receiver, and its very hard to tell how far you're going by just pressing in on it with something.
Try it, and if it doesn't net the result, you can always take it out and ever so slightly bend it (just a small amount).
