Update 8-16-06 After posting my last update, Steve called me the next morning. We discussed my problem. It turns out that the rifle was ordered wrong by the gun shophough I want to thank Steve, BJ and everyone else at RRA for their superior customer service. They went way out of their way to solve a problem that wasn't their fault. I am very pleased with the rifle. The quality is better than expected(and I had high expectations) and I would purchase one again. Thank you RRA again for all of your help, and thanks to the other posters here for good ideas and encouragement. Brian Steve, After doing alot of lurking around here, other research and speaking with a representative from your company at a gun club open house(who was very helpful), I ordered my first AR, a Midlength A-4 through a local gun shop(who is a RRA dealer). I was already aware of the 4-8 week wait time and the Dealer also made this clear. I figured for the high praise the rifle has recieved the wait was well worth it. I also like the fact that your company is in Illinois. I am now past the seven week mark and called the dealer to see if he had recieved the rifle. He had not but offered to call RRA and see if he could get an approximate delivery date. He informed me that what he was told was that it would be at least 2-3 more weeks and will probably be 6 more weeks. This did not please me. I understand that everyone is very busy, and I was aware of the 4-8 week waiting period, But.......... Is there something going on with the midlenghts, or is it just a general backup. If possible could you confirm or deny the above information. I appreciate this fourm. It is nice to be able to communicate directly with the manufacturer. Thank you for your time, Brian *UPDATE* After waiting 11 weeks, I finally got the call. Today I went to pick up my new midlength A4.heA2. I mentioned this minor difference to the clerk and they checked their paperwork and discovered that thay had ordered an A4 midlenght. I am normally a very laid back patient person. Right now, however I am Seething. After waiting well beyond the advertised waiting period, I get the wrong rifle. I could handle either one of these on their own but both together disappoints me greatly. The gun shop is going to call to see what my options are. I really hope this waiting period is not going to start over. If they can not get a firm reasonable date that this situation can be dealt with, I will have to persue other options. I am very hopeful this can be taken care of in a reasonable amout of time. I have been looking forward to this rifle because of all of the positive feedback RRA has recieved. I am not bashing as I am sure this is an isolated incident, I just need to know how this is going to be handled. Thanks for your time, Brian |

We're running towards the 60 days end of the lead time projection on some models, while others are going out almost immediately...all depending on whether certtain key components are in stock at time of order and whether a back log exists for that specific model. Steve/RRA |
When I ordred my RRA NM A4 on April 25, 06 I was told there would be a 6-8 week or longer wait. 18 days later I got the call. Order a Nat'l Match, maybe you'll get it sooner! |

Sent my order for an Elite CAR A4 with CL on July 14. Does the CL really take that much longer and should I really expect it to be 8 weeks. If not, how long should I expect as I already have several thousand rounds waiting for it |

It isn't a matter of chrome/non-chrome (although manufacturing process with chrome does take longer) bbl. We build to order, and right now we're behind a bit longer than we would like to be, but ship uppers and rifles in quantity daily. To use your example, however, I'll explain how it will work. Assuming we don't have a part in stock, let's say mid length chrome lined bbls, but get a shipment of them in, the first thing we'll do is identify which orders that use that bbl will be fulfilled first (generally oldest order to newest order) up to the total quantity of barrels received. We'll set the bbls up the way they need to be for those particlar orders, and we'll build everylast one of them that we can with the parts available. That's why some people get them much sooner than others, depending on when the order was received and parts available at that time. Right now, many rifle and uppers are running the full 4-6 weeks...but some do go out much sooner, and a few can drag out a little longer. Steve/RRA |

Steve, I ordred my Tactical CAR A4 on the last week of May. I did order it with the Chrome lined Barrel, Quad Rail HandGuard and an ERGO Grip. After reading yoru post, I'm assuming it's because of the Chrom Lined barrel that my rifle is taking the full 8 week lead time? I'm gonna go ahead and wait another 13 days before I ring up my FFL dealer who ordred the rifle for me, after that I'll give him a call and see if he can give you guys a call for an updated ETA. I can't say it enough, but this waiting is killing me! It would be nice if a customer could track his order and what process it is in, but I'm not sure how much work it would take or if it is even possible to do from your end. Thank, I'll wait as patiently as I can. |

High speed...all of the DDs we get have ladder rails with them. Special K: just tracking an individual order in-house requires actually physicaly tracking the hardcopy of the order if it's between certain key points in the process. Being able to provide everyone with live-time status updates would drive up the cost of production prohibitively. Steve/RRA |
| Yes of course, I fully understand that. It's just that seeing everyone getting their rifles in is making me very jealous and envious Haha. No but really, I really appreciate your effort as well as your crew's. I'm hoping it won't e much longer, I would just really love to get some shooting done with the rifle before classes start back up for the semester. Thanks for the reply. |

I'm the same way. I've gotten to the point that if I order something on-line at 2 AM, I catch myself being perturbed that it isn't delivered yet the following afternoon. I guess that comes from the "instant" nature of just about everything else around us. I'm still trying to remember how I was getting by even three years ago without constant e-mail access at my desk. We're putting out rifles, upper halves and lower halves every day. Every order gets filled....sometimes it takes longer than planned and sometimes everyone is pleasantly surprised when it all comes together and product goes out ahead, or even way ahead, of the expected date. We all appreciate everyones' patience and understanding. Thanks. Steve/RRA |

To the original poster: It seems the average wait time for a full rifle order is 6-8 weeks. You can get it sooner, but the last few that have been getting theirs in lately have been at 6-8 weeks. Good news: FFL Dealer called me today saying he's looking at two great looking black rifles in a nice hard case." Bad news: I signed up for overtime at work and now I won't be able to pick them up until Friday! Haha, at least they're in town and it's just another two days before I get her in my hands. Now on to my first questions, what rounds(Brand and weight) do the rifles prefer? It's a 16 inch Chrome Lined barrel. Steve: Thanks for the help. The FFL dealer I ordered from had a lot of nice things to say about the rifles. He's been transfering in a good amount of RRAs lately and he's very impressed with them. This would be my first rifle and everyone tells me I won't be dissapointed with RRA, I'm pretty sure they're right. |
I have 2000 rounds of the American Eagle (made by Federal) in the 55 gr. FMJ BT waiting for mine. You can get it cheap from Wideners.com |
