Rock River Arms has a very good reputation in my part of the country. Please make sure the LAR-10 is made to the same high standard of quality and reliability as your LAR-15 before you release it. I would not want to see your company's reputation blemished like the .308 rifle has done to other manufacturers.

Yes - I wish you the best of luck building a 308 caliber rifle on the AR platform too. Clearly, it's not an easy thing to do. While I prefer RR to BM, BM is a large producer of ARs and I respect them. Their failure with the 308 platform should be taken as a warning sign of just how hard this project can be. Let's not forget that Ruger tried to create a 308 autoloader (the XGI) many years ago and pulled it at the last minute. I also believe this is why some people think the Armalite AR10 is not reliable. They compare the reliability of the 308 platform to the 223 platform and it just doesn't match up. My thought on this matter is that I hope you consider the need to make this really reliable platform. If you compromise on design quality to save on cost at the expense of reliability you will lose. For example - making a 308 that accepts existing magaziness that are very cheap seems like a good idea on the surface. But if this means the rifle is less reliable, then it's not a winner in my opinion. I would prefer to pay a little more for the rifle - and substantially more for the magazines if it means greater reliability. Again good luck - I hope you create a winner. |

The mags aren't cheap, just inexpensive - because they are so plentiful. I think if anyone is going to get this right, it will be RRA. They have BMs example to learn from and are testing extensively. They also have a reputation for getting it right and great customer service. They also have a limited lifetime warranty - so if nothing else they'll get MINE right b/c I will ship that mother back until they do! |
