Elite has the mount and side sling swivel which, if pruchased seperately, would cost quite a bit more.

For those interested:
Ordered the upper kit on 02 June 2006. Bought SNS Industries Lower Receiver (Skull and Bones) at Custer Gun Show 10 June 2006. Hid all evidence of another AR15 purchase from wife on 11 June 2006. RRA Invoice arrives at home on 14 June 2006, busted by wife. Upper Receiver Kit arrives at work on 27 June 2006, coincidently the same place I should have told them to send the invoice; I'm in Chelan, WA on family vacation. Rifle put together in under an hour on 28 June 2006 with directions from this website. Currently I have approx 500 rounds through the rifle. Putting it together was a breeze, I recommend getting a CAR nut wrench and I could not get the stock nut tight enough. I've ordered a wrench in anticipation of other builds. |

Got my CAR A4 kit today and just finished assembling the lower. It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be (thanks to the instructions on this site) and, best of all, I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PIECES LEFT OVER!!
Great looking rifle with a nice tight feel to it. I look forward to shooting it this weekend. |

What would you have done if you did have "extra" pieces?

I'm eyeing this RRA CAR A4 kit, but have one question. I would be getting the chrome lined barrel. With that said, is the barrel a true Govt Profile with profiling under the handguards or is it just an HBAR with the R4 profile? I'm going for a really light setup and don't want to have to send the barrel off to be profiled. I'd rather it already be done! TIA!
ETA: To better clarify my question. www.rockriverarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=AR0202ASY&storeid=1&image=bblr407.gif&CFID=42119430&CFTOKEN=28015042 Is it a CAR R4 Heavy (top) or a CAR R4 Lightweight (bottom)? Please tell me it's the lightweight! |

I would like to say thank you to TxLewis for my membership! |
I could tell you that, but I wouldn't be telling the truth.
Both kits feature uppers made with our heavy-under-the-handguard R4 barrels. Teh price would be slightly different, but if you need a "kit" built with a light weight R4 bbl, you could order an upper half so configured, along with the stock kit and lower parts kit of your choice and pretty much have everything that would be in the kit, except a mag. Sorry......got a bunch of questions.
could you take some time to help me out. I really want a Rock river Arms AR-15. Every dealer i've been to around central illinois says RRA is one of the top 3 best made Ar's. I really been looking at this complete kit. But i really want a quad rail like your AR1291. Is there any way to get this it with a quad rail setup? or without a hand gaurd? how hard is it to change the handguard on this kit, what does it consist of? One dealler i went to said that you can't get lower receivers from rra anymore?? I didn't think that was true, they said someone was making rifles then people were sending them trying to get warranty and they were not complete kits. Is it easy to find the lowers from RRA ?? I like the ones ive seen that say "US Property" stamped on them from legal transfers, is he the only one that has them? he said he can't get anymore from RRA for 2-3 months?? So what is the best bang for my buck? build the kit and swap the stock hand guard for a quadrail? or buy a complete rifle like the AR1291? I don't mind putting it together. want rifle with quad rail for the cheapest way i can Thanks Lance |

Right now, "cheapest", "fastest", and "easiest" are pretty much mutuall exclusive.
You could call in and order the complete kit, and we could sub a quadrail for the regular upcharge for the upgrade. Your dealer was partially correct. He still can and will get stripped lowers from us, he'll just have to wait while they trickle out. We prioritize lowers to complete rifles, followed by lower halves and stripped lowers. With rifle orders at "record" levels, and with lower production at capacity, most lowers are goign into rifles. We are still shipping lower halves and stripped lowers, just at a much slower rate than we are happy with. We have taken steps to further increase lower capacity, but that isn't an overnight action. That said, you could get the complete kit within a few/several weeks, but the stripped lower would probably be quite a bit longer than that. The "US Property" marked lowers are an exclusive through Pete at Legal Transfers. If you want one of them, you'll have to go through him. The quickest and easiest(but not necessarily the cheapest) route would be to get the complete AR1291 (or whatever configuration you want) through a local dealer. Hope that helps a bit. Happy Holidays. Steve/RRA |

thanks for the reply that helps me out a bit.

Can you guys post some pics how the kit comes?
It's a complete upper half, a bagged lower parts kit, a 6-position stock kit, and a magazine within a box. Nothing too special about the presentation...just all of the part sthat you need,(assembled wherever possible) except the stripped lower receiver, to build a carbine.

Well i ordered the Car A4 kit today. How long do you think it will take to get it here to central Illinois.?? Hope i can find a lower RRA recevier soon. Thanks for all your help

Probably 4-6 weeks...maybe less.

Steve i can't wait to get the kit in. I just found a RRA lower receiver at a gun show over in Indianapolis. It was the only one in the place!! Every dealer i talked to said i won't find one for awhile b/c everyone wants one, and you guys are pretty backed up from all your orders ............it was $150 out the door.
But i wanted to thank you for taking the time answering my questions on here. You guys have great customer service. Thanks again for having that item added to my order. i know you said you don't usually do that, but you guys know how to keep the customers happy. The wait is killing me though :) Thanks again |

Good to hear.
Please follow up with our Sales Department to make sure your order got updated...since we talked about it I want to make sure you get what you think you're getting. Steve/RRA |
You are great!
By the way....does it come in one of those nice RRA hard plastic boxes?? |
Nope...no SafeCase with the kits...just with complete rifles, or available seperately.

whats the wait time for the next month for non chrome lined barrel kits vs. chrome lined

They're built to order, so no real way to tell without more info. generally the kits take about as long as an upper half (4-8 weeks).

I was finally able to head out to the range yesterday with my CAR A4 kit. I added the kit to a Stag lower and used an LMT BUIS.
Everything went together like it should. Great looking rifle! (crappy picture does not do it justice) http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj177/Red94xj/m4.jpg After spending the day at the range, function was flawless (aprox. 150 rounds) without any issues. As far as accuracy goes, I was able to get .5" 5-shot groups at 50yds (using plinking ammo no less!). At 100yds, the groups opened up a little to 1.5" but I think that has more to do with the open sights than the gun. At 200yds, I was able to hit a steel plate (12x12) without too much trouble. Overall, I have to say that the kit was an excellent purchase. Thanks for making such a quality product. There will be more RRA rifles in my future! John |

John,
Looks good. Have fun and be safe. Steve/RRA |

I ordered a CAR A4 kit on the 24th and noticed that my card hasn't been charged yet. Do you guys charge only when you ship? And is the lead time on these still 4-6 weeks?

I ordered mine w/ chrome lined barrel on Feb 14th and recieved it on Mar 20th, it came faster than I expected!
I was wondering if RRA recommends a break in process for the chrome lined barrels. I have read elsewhere to fire 1 round then run a patch down the barrel. Do that 10 times and then fire 2 rounds and run a patch down the barrel, do that 10 times. does that sound right or can I just go out and start plinking away? Thank you, Brandon |
We don't require any break in procedure, but there are purists out there who demand one...so we recommend a 30rd break-in.
Rds 1-10, single load and fire, running a lightly oiled patch (then a dry patch) after each round to pick up any loose jacket material from the bore. Rds 11-20, same process, but only run the patches after rdd 13, 17, and 20. Rds 21-3-, same procedure, but running the patches after rds 25 and 30. Have fun. Steve/RRA |

Thanks a lot! That information was delivered right in time. I am heading out to the Sportsmans Club in the morning.

Man this Rock River Arms CAR A4 is awesome. mounted it to a RRA lower. It shot very well. no miss fires or any problems at all. Thanks for a great product.
I took mine to the range and it shot well, very accurate, I really like this gun. The only problem I have is that I cannot get a magazine to seat with 30 rounds in it unless I open the bolt. If I take 1 round out the magazine will fit fine with the bolt closed. Any ideas what may cause this?
u got to slap them in to place.. real good
New mag, new spring, no "set" taken yet....one possibility.
Give it some time. Steve/RRA |
Whats the wait on the kit and is there a LEO discount?
Contact Pete at Legal Transfers. I'm not sure about the kit in specific, but I know he has plenty of RRA stuff in stock, as I just purchased 4 uppers from him.
Sorry to bother Steve,
Any idea on how much longer for the kit? (chrome lined) I ordered on St Paddy's day. Thanks in advance! |

Last time I checked we were waiting on bbls.

Thanks for the info.

R4 bbls come in regularly...we build up all that we get at any gien timeand ship them.

Steve,
Any chance of my order having a Tactical Muzzle Brake (AR0117T) installed on the kit I'm waiting on? Also what would the charge be? Thank You |
Toxic,
It's possible. The sales folks might be able to get it done, but they'll also probably ding you the $35 for the brake AND the $25 order reprocessing fee. Give them a try 866-980-7625. Steve/RRA |
Ordinarily I'd be more than willing to pay the fee's but the prospect of another 10 to 12 week wait due to "reprocessing" is a bit much for me.
Thanks Anyway |

I do have a question about the kit that I have ordered. Does this kit include the stock wrench. I want to make sure I have everything I need so I can assemble as soon as I receive the kit.
Thanks, Steve |
The kit does NOT include any tools that might be required for assembly.
Steve/RRA |

Steve,
12 weeks... any hope for delivery in the near future? If specific order info will help, I'll PM it to you. Thanks |

Specific order info should be directed to our Sales/Customer Service Department...866-980-7625. Thanks.

Oh yeah! Just got the email this afternoon that my CAR A4 kit has shiped. Can't wait to see it and put it together. Thanks Steve and RRA for making the wait bearable!

I just got the kit Steve. Looks great with the RRA lower. Looking forward to airing it out a bit!
Thank You |

Can this kit be ordered with green furniture, or is it like the Ford Model T that came in any color you want as long as it was black?
