Does anybody know what that means?  I assumed they were getting ready to ship, but it's been in that status for over a week now. It just says order being held.

I think it means that the entire order is being held for shipment until all parts are in stock to ship.  You have anything backordered?  They do have a thing when you checkout that says all stock levels may not be accurate at the time of checkout and what you want to do with items that are out of stock.  I usually just choose to canel the order if this happens, but the default option maybe to backorder the part.

I think that is what it means, but you may want to call them to check it out.

The order for my Lowers which required FFL paperwork were marked as "HELD."

I had my FFL mail them via snail mail per Brownells website.

I called to find out why it was marked "HELD" and they said "Because we don't have your FFL paperwork."

Long story short, I contacted Cathy the FFL lady, she magically found my paperwork, and after that, the order was marked "PROCESSED - ITEMS NOT IN STOCK" or
something similar.

If you have any FFL items, you may want to call Cathy at the general office # and try to get it straightened out. She apparently has several trees worth of paper on her desk.

I didn't have any FFL items. I ordered 10 M3 pmags (30 rounders) and 8 20 rounders. The 30s say being held and the 20s say order processed no items shipped. I didn't think I ordered them in the same order but maybe I did.

Well, they also had a computer software problem, where their main back office system, was out of sync with their website system.

You may want to call and ask about your order.

They supposedly fixed the out-of-sync issue, but, meh, who knows.

It could be, but I had half an order ship out just recently and the other half was still backordered.

I had an order from a month ago that is marked "IS BEING HELD" and the customer service person (Cindy) said it was marked as COD/Check or something like that and needed payment (my original receipt shows I used a credit card, though.  I read of others having this problem.)

I would give a call (1-800-741-0015).  It took me 3 calls to get past the busy signal, and I sat on hold for about 10 minutes.

The CS rep was as nice as can be, though.

I had the same situation when I tried to buy two bolt carriers last week. It turns out that my credit card was declined but the order was being held until I provided another form of payment. I called CS and they were extremely nice to me. We used the card that I meant to use that night and the order was released to shipping in a day. Give em a call...
