The trend of making red dots, even budget red dots, with a shake awake feature always seemed so strange to me. Presumably adding such a feature adds cost to manufacturing and therefor makes the retail price more expensive. So especially if the optic model is marketed as a budget option, why add cost for something that doesn't matter? It also theoretically adds a needless point of failure. What if whatever mechanism that detects motion fails, and now it never detects motion? You would then need to keep turning the dot back on every ten minutes. All this for the sake of conserving battery life on something that already has a five year run time and swapping a new battery costs less than two dollars. |
