I'm looking for a little bit of help on which optic I should buy next.  I built an 18" SPRish AR-15 a couple months ago and haven't gotten to shoot it yet since I don't have any sights on it.  I originally was thinking a Mil-Mil scope and the 4-14 FFP caught my eye, but yesterday I started looking at the fixed 6x with ACSS and it looks like it might be a good option too.  For the foreseeable future I will probably only be shooting the M193 and M855 that I have and mostly shooting steel targets out to 600 yards.  Not really planning on sub-MOA paper punching, even though I'm sure the gun is capable of it.  How does the glass compare between those two, and how do they compare to something like the Weave Grand Slam 3-10x from Midway?  I appreciate any help!

The glass on both is phenomenal! The 4-14X is a lot bigger, personally I would look at the 4X ACSS or even try and grab one of the 1-6XACSS that are due this month.
Both are calibrated for 5.56 and capable of getting hits 0-800 yards. There are lots of reviews on them most recent the Military Arms channel tested the 4X and were shocked to get hits all the way out to 800 using 5.56.

Thanks Dimitri! I was hoping you'd reply.  How does shooting at 600y compare between 4x and 6x? I don't have much experience.  Is the glass in the new 1-6 better than all the others? I honestly wasn't really considering the 1-6x but after looking at it some more I think I might try to get one when it comes out.

Both 4X and 1-6 have great glass. At 600 yard shooting for me I prefer the 6X magnification over the 4X but that's not to say the 4X will not get you hits they will hit the same. There are advantages to the 4X and to the 1-6X
The 4X is more compact and tough as a tank! The 1-6X is very versatile and can go to 1X for CQB or to 6X for medium range. The 4X can take a reflex sight, I have both mounted on personal guns and I can't say one is better then the other..
