Have you guys ever thought about a cantilevered mount. Something so that the end of the tailcap would be even with the FSP. That would give us the room we want without having to sell our existing rails. 7 or 9 inch, and use all the existing rail to grab ahold of.  I dont know about anyone else, but it seems like a great idea to me.

That is a great idea and Impact Weapon Components has a flashlight mount that works as you describe. Check it out here: http://store.impactweaponscomponents.com/tmc1olimo1.html

Those are great. But they arent for railed handguards. I was thinking of something similar that will work with 4 railed handguards. Picatinny rails.
The above only work with regular or Magpul hanguards.

I know what you're describing, but the only way I see it as feasible is if you are using a remote switch. I think the canitlever would put it too far out front to be effective with a pushbutton switch. The standard rail-mounts can put put on the end of most lights to push the body forward, and get you close to your goal. You don't need to center a light in the mount as you would a scope.

I love how they are such good CS people that they send people to other companies to find exactly what they want.

Actualy I was trying to describe ( poorly )  A light mount that canted the light forward to have  the end of the tailcap , even with the rear of  front sight frame. Same as a V TAC  but just cantilevered forward enought to be able to use more of the handguard space.
