I like this system. I mention he's freaking out and a tracking number appears like magic!
His kits are actually pretty nice for blem. The gas tubes are tighter than... <metaphor not found> Some material needs to come off the front of the tube or you're beating that thing off the gun. With handguards in place, there's no place to bear on with the beating tool. The gas-tube latch is also super tight. The magazine catches were both too long and wouldn't latch on any magazine we had, and he's got a bunch from every nation from years of neckbearding them. Some gentle time with a file fixed it. I'm not even upset, it's a blem kit! I went into this assuming that some fitting would have to be done because it's both a kit and a blemish. I don't think I had to do too much to get his gun together for him. I am hoping that Palmetto is reading this as feedback so they can make their product better and not taking it as sour grapes. The machining under for the bolt carrier looks much better than I've seen on one person's who's getting his whole kit replaced. On par with a Yugo we had handy. 
We had zero problems with the lower handguard retainer's slot. It doesn't look doubled at all to me. 
It went together very smoothly and as long as it zeros we're happy. 
We are ticked off at how Magpul attaches that stock. The weld nuts are too light a grade and the screws are just a bit too short to bite in properly with all that loctite stuff on them. The front screw sits proud of its recess and the recoil spring guide sticks a bit on it. |

The kits that replaced it are very clear on the product specs so the customer is not confused as to what they are receiving. |

When one of them (the rear one) finally stripped out, the stock went all floppy on me. You can tighten the really long screw inside the stock and get rid of the wobble, but once that weld nut is stripped out, the stock will only tighten up with a lot of droop to it. Picture the stock tilting down towards the floor 10 degrees. I called Magpul up and the lady sent me out 2 replacement nuts for free. That's cool, but they replacements don't look much different than the original ones. I'll probably have to find some better t-nuts or keep calling them every 6 months for extras. |

| I had this problem with my Magpul stock also. Replaced rear screw with a stainless 10-32 screw that was very similar to what I think was a 10-24 screw. Fits in hole nicely. Ordered a square 10-32 stainless nut. Had to mill nut down to .105 to enter slot properly. You could properly do this with course sandpaper but it will take awhile. Now stock is rock solid. Much better than Magpul hardware. |

The flat underside fits over the top of the latch and you grind down away from the gun. We did not take much off at all, 1/64" at most, to go from nothing latched to getting a firm 'click' and no wobble when latched. Originally Posted By deider:

So I got an email from Joe at PSA last night. They have asked for me to send the whole rifle back for them to make sure everything is ok once they replace the carrier.
ETA - I see on AKfiles that a bunch folks there got the same thing. |

I'll be sending in my whole built out gun. I'm not messing with taking it all down. If the carrier doesn't fit, then they have the whole gun to replace for me. If they want to go ahead and upgrade me to the premium barreled receiver I think we can work something out 
Edit: just went through the PSA thread on akfiles...a little worried now we may just be handed a refund, which in that case I will be very unhappy- Really hoping PSA takes care of us. |

I got the same call yesterday. I was told I didn't have to remove the furniture, but I may remove the stock so it'll fit in the same box the barreled receiver came in (I don't want to have to find a new box that'll fit the whole rifle). Since I have to send it in, I'm going to point out some other little issues I've noticed. I installed an ALG recoil spring and high energy main spring when I assembled everything, so I'm wondering if I should replace those with the stock PSA springs before sending it back.
I'm glad they're standing behind their product. I just hope everything gets fixed this time. |

| Ordered a Blem Freedom build kit with the Moekov and a red stock kit. Received the Moekov & wood stock set within a week, the barreled receiver 4 days later. Did order an ALG AKT-UL fcg, their wound trigger spring and recoil spring. Had a VERY minor issue with an otherwise outstanding build. The countersink for the screw that fits the 'puzzle piece' into the rear trunion to mount the stock was a fudge shallow-easily fixed and the recoil spring assembly now clears the screw head. Easy enough. The sling mount is on the lower handguard locking front piece. I could find no 'blem' but apparently PSA felt there was something-me? Not so much. Fit and finish are very good, outside of the shallow countersink. It is a cast bolt carrier and appears to be of high quality. I grew up in machine shops and that's not a deal breaker for me, a good cast forging is a durable part. You want machined billet steel, be ready to pony up. As PSA starts gearing up we'll see if they offer an upgrade, that seems where they're headed. Making their parts interchangeable for a 'new' American Standard AK. It seems like PSA is looking up to be a major player in the AK field and are getting their act together. Robski mentioned they bought DDI, that's a commitment there folks. I like what I see so far, just be a trifle patient. Went to the range yesterday and it ran over 200 rounds without a hiccup. I have to say even with my eyesight at 100 yds and using iron sights I was impressed, everything inside of the outer bull ring of a standard 100 yd target. Feel like once I get used to these sights I'll do better, this was the first time I've shot an AK. I feel I got a good basic firearm for the $379.00 for the barreled receiver. Keep up the good work PSA. |

Just sent my gun in- Hoping for a quick turn around time so I can enjoy it finally!!! Let's keep this thread updated guys, especially when people start receiving their rifles back (or not).
Edit: just saw on akfiles that a new carrier was shipped back to a member- looks 100000x times better than that cast shit. Hopes are running high here that they are making this right for us! |

Night and day difference in carriers plus two AKpmags as promised. If all the rifles/carriers that have been returned get the same I will be very happy with PSA's efforts to make things right. AK files pic's near bottom of page 34 I dropped mine and my coworkers receivers off at the local UPS store last night,still no updated tracking on it

| That carrier looks WAY better. I will be very pleased if everything goes smoothly. I would even consider looking at their premium or CHF barreled receiver for a next purchase. I've also been waiting for the Atlantic Firearms polish barreled receiver, but PSA may still edge them out for me (considering all goes well!) |
| Mine looks like the other carrier posted - way better. They were very generous with the lube/grease lol. I'll try to get some pics and shoot a little this weekend after I clean it up some. They did include 2 pmags and a chamber flag. So far, I'm happy with everything. |

My package was delivered to PSA at 9:30 am this morning - starting to get excited to finally have my first AK back!
edit: was really hoping I would receive a tracking number today with that 1 day turnaround....I guess they still have time, keeping my fingers crossed!! Welp, no tracking number

| Happy to report my rifle came in today with the new forged carrier. Looks WAY better than the cast one previously sent. Also got my two pmags. I appreciate PSA making this right for me and providing the parts I believed I was getting. Now I just need to find some time and get out and shoot. I'll update the thread with round count and pictures after I'm able to get out. |

I just saw this posted over on AKfiles
Without any notice, my FFL just called me that my replacement barreled receiver had arrived. Will be picking it up later today and hope that everything is good this time. Don't know if they included any extra goodies in the package but I know for sure I'll be out another $25 transfer fee. WTF, I was told by Joe that these would be returned to you directly so no additional FFL fees would be imposed. Unless I am mistaken and he was shipped replacement receiver and not his original that had been refit with a new carrier. |

| I think the guy over on the files had to get a replacement, not just a repair (New serial number). I was able to sneak out on lunch today and hit the farm to put two mags through the rifle. Not one hiccup. Went bang every time. I'm hoping to get a couple hundred rounds through it this weekend. After that, I'll post some pics. So far, so good. |
| Both carriers were returned today with no advance UPS tracking supplied,not complaining about that at all. Received by PSA Wed morning back in our hands Friday,100% + improvement on the carriers as witnessed by previous pics . Like others have also reported no mags as promised unless they have shipped separately |

And the saga continues....When we got the receivers w/new carriers back today we just gave them a quick once over to check out the new carriers. When we went to put them back together tonight both were missing the pistol grip base/block/nut that we had returned with the receiver. If you look back at my post about our build,you will see that we had to tap/drive them into place as they were such a tight fit. looks like I will be sending Joe a text in the morning about this and the promised mags that we didn't get. Other than that the new carriers look great.
