I recieved the PSA premium full auto bcg (with logo) yesterday I took it to the range today to test out along with my new upper. When I got home, I started to clean it and noticed the staking on the gas key didn't look as nice as the staking on my other PSA (no logo) bcg. I have two questions,
1. Has anyone else who's ordered this bcg have the same problem with their staking? 2. Is there anything PSA can do for me? Or am I SOL since its been fired? The staking is perfectly fine.
Staking isn't even a requirement if the screws are torqued correctly. If there is metal displaced enough to touch the screws, it's fine. If you're still concerned (really shouldn't be) then you can wrap the carrier in a towel, put it in a vice and take a punch to finish it off yourself. Over staking can crack the screws, which will cause far more issues than under staking. |

Really? A similar post is on reddit and the general consensus is that the staking is sub par. When compared to my other bcg I agree. Quoted:

It's not exactly the gold standard of staking, but as long as there is metal to metal contact then it is gonna be "in spec" and gtg. When one of mine looks like that I like to counter stake the screws with an auto punch, just for good measure. You can buy an auto punch at lowes or home depot for less then $10.00. With a staked bcg key and counter staked screws you can rest assured that baby will NEVER come loose from use. Here is a pic. You can kinda see it in the pic. I am ocd, so after I counter stake the screws I black out the newly made divot with cold blue.

That staking is FINE (actually done right). People have gotten used to sloppy over staked carriers where the staking is so overdone it goes OVER the bolts (that's useless and just sloppy crappy work). The correct staking is just to have the staked metal touching/pressing on the screws, not enough to smash it over the screws (I cringe when I see those).
GTG (and done right). |
