It was rumored years ago that they were going to go to a total PA prefix throughout... no telling if thats finally happened though. |

It is to install a tension screw, in case the upper to lower fit is loose, the 1/4" allen screw with a plastic tip can be installed to push up on the bottom of the rear upper takedown lug, removing any play in the fit. |

What's the story on the milled magwells on the blem PA10 lowers?
I ask because I have a non-blem PA10 lower waiting for a deal on a build up kit but I've heard of others that had issues with Magpul 308 Pmags not fitting so seeing that mill work on the blem lowers gives me some pause about the lower sitting in my safe. Thanks Wes |
|
Thank you for your inquiry.
The current blem 308 lowers had an incorrect bevel at the magwell. The issue was corrected after coating, but not re-coated. You should not have an issue with your 308 lowers previously purchased. However, you have a lifetime warranty against defects. The magwell is either correct or not - checking with a Pmag should be simple enough without having to build the upper. In the unlikely event you have an issue, contact CS directly, they will be happy to help. |

| AP serials under 002500 will be pre 2012, AP serials with 7 digits are 2015 and later. |

In light of some new information this answer has gotten infinitely more complex. As of right now, known manufacturers are : LW Schneider FN Manufacturing Aero Precision. Various Other Manufacturers. Thanks for the reply. It seems nicer than the LW one I picked up last week. Comparing them side by side, I'd say it wasn't an LW. I don't know why this seems to be a big secret. PA Prefixed lowers are made by one company that i mentioned in the initial post. The reason for secrecy is not on my end, but rather on their end, along with business associate agreements etc etc. for instance... Say you're company X. Company X produces lower receivers at 149.99 on sale, regular price 199.99. Company Y, produces lowers for 59.99 on sale, 89.99 regular price. Company X and Company Y do no machining in house, but rather have outsourced to a third party that machines Lowers. The Company sells their Machined lowers to all companies that want to sell lowers under their name, but if it were known who made the lowers for Company X, is the same that made the lowers for Company Y, to the same standards, fit, and finish, then why would the consumer be buying Company X's Lowers? In a nutshell, thats why companies cant talk about who makes what for whom and whom sources what for whom. |

Just received on 12/15/16 a PA prefix lower with the tension screw hole. It was a blem that had a purple hew to it till I oiled it now its a nice deep black and matches my aero upper nicely. It also has
"West Columbia" marked (like the PTAC ones sans the PTAC marking) on it instead of just columbia, and the roll mark is different. Also the logo is a little different looking then my LW marked lower. Has the safe and fire markings, which I like better then the pictogram. Overall it looks really nice. The mag well flare is not as wide but my pmags release and drop well. IMHO its just as good, if not better then the LW marked ones I have, plus the bonus of a tension screw and the low shelf (at least I think, its lower then any other I have) for whenever I can afford a Drop in Sear. (not) |

Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you.

I too have a large issue not buying every variation of lower. It also sadly has proven to not be a wise investment, because no one knows what the special edition lowers are worth and or what they are. So buying them as an investment is unwise. Collection purposes, would be for me alone knowing what i know now. |

Bought 4 blem lowers about a month ago and three were HP and one was LW. The HP marked ones look like the serial and other information was laser engraved and not milled, the working is not as sharp, and at the bottom of the cuts it looks like a tight row of dots. I'm going to assume they were made on a Hewlett-Packard laser printer

I updated a bunch of things today.
03/14/17 Added Glock 9mm Bolt hold open lowers, edited time frames for AP run lowers. Changed information for AR10 markings. included PA,PF,PI, and other P* markings listings. Added PSA AR10 Gen 2 Lowers, edited the Limited edition coated lowers to enclude ODgreen, and also to correct coating information. I'm thinking of doing, and have a basic framework setup already, for a PSA Barrel differences Thread. As there are so many variations of profile, i'll probably leave that out, and only go for materials, twists, and tiers. Premium CHF Premium Stainless Freedom Stainless Freedom Ptac Unmarked is a basic working thought process. coatings will be included. Any information or help is appreciated greatly. |

We appreciate the effort to catalog all of the lowers we have offered, it was a lot of work. However the speculation on sources was neither correct nor official.
This thread has been cleaned up so that we may sticky it again. Please keep the speculation on sources, or other juicy gossip, contained to the gun store counter where it shares time with other tall tales... ![]() |

Thanks for the re-sticky. The barrel thread was also a hope that you guys could take that framework, and correct any issues with it, (either by pm to me or by outright editing in the thread) and help the customer base by understanding the differences and the prices etc. just as you have corrected any misleading information here. Neither thread was an effort to spread rumors, or misleading information but rather to get the actual facts posted for folks, because it is downright confusing in may ways for many folks, not just newbs but even those seasoned builders.
Thanks. |

| Just read this thread for the first time. Well that was an ass kicker to read that I bought my worthless brother a "You Lie" lower and that it's a collectors item now. Knowing him, he's probably sold it by now if he found out it went up in value. Haven't spoke to him in well over a year, and probably the only time I ever will again is when Mom passes away. |
