I got one yesterday as well.  I thought about buying a few and flipping them on the EE, but I just can't do that to a good business or to a fellow gun owner.

That's how I am.   I believe in free market but just because you can doesn't mean you should take advantage .

I guess that's why I'm not rich

I was at the farrow rd location buying some pmags, this guy had a box of them (limit was 10).  I told the lady at checkout that some of the people buying them would put them on gb tonite for $40 each...I told her I refused to do that.  The guy with the box gave me this "screw you" face..I know what he is doing the minute he gets home.  And that ladies and gentleman, is why the gun industry is so messed up right now....

So....you wanted them to knock a few bucks off of a product because it didn't have a box...that more than likely would've been thrown away or eventually lost in the mix... and paperwork...that more than likely would've been thrown away or eventually lost in the mix? To paraphrase a previous post...that my friends is yet another reason why the gun world is messed up.

For the record, Magpul shipped tons of stocks, grips, forearms, and sights without retail packaging and "paperwork" to fill orders that otherwise would've been delayed while they waited for their retail packaging and "paperwork" that they get from a different source.

PSA has enough problems without having to cater to every customer looking for a discount.

Yes. I would have liked that.  When i managed retail stores we did that all the time.

Assuming i would have thrown it away may be a usually good idea, but im a bit OCD with my parts and boxes, i keep every empty box and wrapper.  I even keep them neatly packed in other boxes.  So yea.. I would have liked the box or a discount.  Not that you would have or could have known that before hand.. And I disagree that is not a reason that the gun world is messed up.

I was unaware of magpul shipping items like that. Everytime i pickup a magpul item from the shelf its in a box usually.

Perhaps your right, and perhaps thats why i didnt get any off it.. either way i was happy to buy it, and did so. You are a fool if you dont ask for a discount , the worst they'll say is no.. and your going to end up buying it at regular price.  best you get is a little discount, and makes you even happier as a customer. or so i think.. hell man, i try to get as much as i can for my pennies.. i dont have much to begin with, so every dollar counts..

Call it what you will, brotha. In my retail experiences, I've found the best customers (aka those that spend the most money) are typically the last ones to ask for a discount. Those that use the line "I spend a lot of money in here" are the first ones to ask for a discount and typically expect it and get butt hurt when they don't get it.

"If you have to ask how much something costs, you probably can't afford it."

Margins are built into the price of an item to help cover the cost of the item, shipping, cost of manpower to move said product, credit card fees, the list goes on and on. Every penny "discounted" off of that item is that much money a company is less profitable. Profit is what keeps companies in business and providing jobs for people. Now, one little discount for GCO is no big deal, but when you figure in every one of those "I spend a lot of money in here" customers that ask for a discount, those pennies begin adding up. PSA has their issues, no doubt, but charging too much and high prices are rarely one of those issues.

No doubt to a company the best customers are of course those that spend the most.  I spend a good bit, but lets face facts im a lowly state employee and make what i made in 99.  So i have to be budget conscious.

I disagree with the whole if you ahve to ask statement.  I know many folks who are well off simply because they are very concerned with their money, and what they spend.

I agree with all what you say in that last paragraph, however i also know in my experience that when a box is damaged, or a part is missing thigns i.e. the screw for the stock, or the magpul stickers etc.. for example typically a discount would have been justified.  I've seen many things in PSAs store on their mark down shelf discounted for much less. For instance a box of 3o3 british discounted 20% because it was short 1 round.

I understand profit margins and reasoning.   but i appreciate the refresher course :) Getting a discount wasnt expected, but there is no harm in asking.  not getting a discount didnt stop me from purchasing the part either. Do you think i'd of gotten a discount if i'd of told the employee who i am here on arfcom? lol
