I have a PSA upper with the plastic two piece hand guard on it. I now want to switch it out to a full floating handguard. I have the vise block and armorers wrench, but I've heard that PSA torques their barrel nut down to some crazy spec and that it's possible to damage the upper receiver doing it. They said I should send the upper and new HG to PSA and have them do it.
Is this true or does PSA just torque down to 30 a few times, then line up the gas tube hole like everyone else? |

We torque the barrel nut down to spec like everyone else.
Once you remove the barrel nut, you are taking responsibility for the workmanship of the upper. Just like every other product out there, with the exception of perhaps legos, once you take it apart, you affect the warranty. We recommend a free-float two piece rail system that does not require removing the barrel nut or front sight post. Usually the delta ring and weld spring will need to be cut off to install these rail systems. |

Yeah, I know it is one piece. Just thinking of the 100.00 savings over the DD Omega. With all these PSA offers I can't refuse, spendig lotta money.
But the DD Omega is the only way to go. Key point is not having to remove the Delta Ring, can switch back and forth from FF Rail to the original A2 handguards. Bought the A2 Classic because always wanted one. Going with DD Omega, I can have a convertable. Original A2 and A2 with FF Rail. Just got the PSA CMV 20 inch with Troy Alpha 15 inch rail and like it. So figured I'd put a FF Rail on the A2 classic. Just got into the AR craze and got hooked. |
