All my parts will be in this week to build my complete lower.

I was under the impression that for a first timer like me, assembling a complete upper is too much

Is this the case?

Thanks

it won't be too much if you read and follow instructions.it is as easy as doing a lower, just have a strong 4" vice along with the propper tools.everybody is a first timer once.

does anyone know if the bolts that come in the complete upper are the premium or the basic?

I believe I read in a different thread they are the premium bcgs.  The basics were discontinued due to lack of consumer interest

I think uppers are easier than lowers to assemble, as long as you don't paint yourself into a corner based on your parts choices.

Assembled upper + complete bcg + 16"+ barrel + free float handguard/rails (with barrel nut) + clamp on gas block + gas tube + muzzle device = easy, especially with a bench vise, upper receiver vice clamp, torque wrench and assembly lube. Adult legos.

If you want to get fancy with pinning and welding, or staking your own gas key, or cutting your own taper pin slots, well that'll take longer and require some actual skills.

Pretty easy. If you are nervous buy a headspace gauge.

You just have to be careful, if you purchase a barrel that doesn't have the FSP installed it could be a pain in the rear project.
