Curious why Colt stopped making their piston rifle ? Just didn't sell ?

I would like to see them make a mid length piston and and longer handgaurd.

While I am not a huge believer that piston is better than good ole DI, I would like to have a Colt piston upper. In 14.5" barrel, please.
