Bought a LE 6920 back in the first of April.  Where can I go to look up the serial number and get production dates etc?  I couldn't find anywhere on the Colt website, other than for the consumer version of their site and it couldn't find my SN.

Take the handgaurds off and look for a date code (month/year) near the fsb.
That will get you as close as the Colt website will.
You can also look at the plastic bag the rifle came in, and it will be printed on there.

Colt customer service number is 800-962-2658.  They may be willing to look it up for you, if they are not overwhelmed.  Actually, they have looked up serial numbers for me in the past even during the frenzy of three months ago.  Also, look on the labeled end of the box and notice if there is a hand written date in front of the serial number such as, 10.17 or 2.28.   The last two new Colt's I purchased coincidentally had these markings on the box label ends, which corresponded with the date customer service gave me.  Good luck!

Respectfully,

I've always been curious about why people are so concerned about the production date of a post ban rifle.

Not digging on anyone, just my own curiosity.

I agree just look at either the large plastic bag that was wrapped on your carbine or on the barrel under the handguards, the date on the bag would be closer but the barrel date would be close enough.

The recently made guns might not be in the Colt's site database yet, when I checked my LE6920 made early last year it does not show any info, but I'm sure after some time they would update the site info.

My first guess is they think it will become rare and valuable.

I like the info personally.
Kinda like buying a used Glock. I like looking up the serial prefix to figure out the production date
