Anyone know when colt will make the next batch of these rifles? I have read that they make them in cycles. |
| LE6940's have been hitting the distributors lately. Sports South and Davidsons have both hooked me up with one. I am disappointed in the latest batch. They feel rushed and put together sloppy. The uppers do not have the typical Colt markings and the lower is a 6920 "M4" lower. |
| They aren't too long gone. Back in January we had about a dozen 6920's roll in with the "Colt's Law Enforcement Carbine" roll mark in place of the M4. Usually on Colt uppers you will see a "C" on it indicating that it is Colt. The 6940 I received only had a square forge mark. I wish the Upper on the 6940 was keyhole, but that is getting a little nitpicky. The recent 6940's I've had through the shop have had quite a bit of play between the receivers. |

You are right about the play, I sold some of my 6920's & 6940's because of the play. I also noticed the quailty issue you mention but the couple newer production "white label's I have has the "C" stamped. but the newest on I have was manafuctured in december 2012. |

Do any of the new batch 6940s have the locking latch on the front sight as the 6940P rifle. May I ask why this is a concern? Are you worried a out the 6940 front sight will flip down under recoil? I'll assure you, I have thousands of rounds through both of my 6940's and not once have either of the front sights flipped down. Non issue. |

Colt added the latch on the front sight to keep it from folding if it catches something or the rifle is dropped whatever. Colt only did this on the piston guns. For a civilian shooting holes in paper it doesnt mean shit but for a soldier in combat it can mean life or death. |

I went down this morning and picked it up, and guess what, it has the same latch on the front sight as the 6940P. The blue bag is stamped February 2013. I am very pleased with it. Hope it shoots as good as my 6940P. |

| There are some pics of the latch on a 6940P in this thread : http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_126/604811_Colt_6940P__Piston_Parts_Pics.html |
