Do all of the new Colt Government Carbines have the oversized pins and shaved BCG?  I picked one up today that was NIB for $795, has a LGC serial number prefix, LEO markings, and is AR-15 A2, but it has the oversided pins and the non-M16 BCG.
It is also marked Colt Defense.
Is this the norm now?

That's an older 6520. Hard to tell how old exactly, but if you really want to know you can call Colt CS.

All production rifles from 2009 and on use small .154 FCG pins, a sear web and a full auto carrier.

Damn it.  I asked the dealer if this was something new or not and they told me it was.  They refused to let me take it down before purchase and I didn't notice the pin sizes until I got home.  Damn it.

Personally, I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

Shoot it and be happy.

The material misrepresentation that they provided me with was fradulent and thus voids our contract of sale.

Walmart doesn't sell AR15s for $850.

True, but it's 50 more than what you paid for your rifle. Fine, I'll make it $900

You realize we have sales tax in Texas, right?  This rifle cost $869.28 out the door.  Also, in San Antonio the Walmarts do not sell AR-15s because the Mexicans run them to Mexico or so they say.

The only redeeming factor of this purchase is that it brings back memories of Colt catalogs from the mid-late 1980s.

The product registration card has a copyright date of 1998 and the two 20 round mags are marked 11-01.  Maybe this is a Clinton-Ban gun?

Dude, that sucks.  My Walmart has a crap ton of the LE6920's they can't sell.  I feel for you though, I was down in El Paso a lot lately, different world.

Anyway, take it back and get what you want, I think since 2009 all of them came with smaller pin's.

Why are these on GB for $1700?

Because people are retarded.

As for your purchase, why does it matter if it's new? It's still the same great Colt quality. Also I will say that your gun looks to be in great condition.. If I saw that exact gun at shop for $800 or less, I would buy it in a heart beat!

I am just annoyed that it was misrepresented to me.  Had they been up front, I would have likely still bought it because of the price, but I don't like being lied to.

I think you done good there for 8 bills.  What's bothering you?  Is it that you were expecting new production or the pin size?  It looks like a new rifle.  I too would have bought that in heartbeat if it makes you feel any better.

ETA: Missed your last by a couple minutes, I don't think they knew they were lying to you.  I don't know who said it but there's a quote..."never attribute to malice that which can be explained by stupidity."

Should be a date stamped on the barrel just behind the handguard retainer. If youre curious.
It'll be tough to replace it for that same dollar amount. Good price, try not to let the pin size/age bother you.

That was a long time ago.  Two wives ago for me.

By the way, Gene Stoner must have been drunk when he designed the slip ring.

Ever worked with one of the old, straight sided ones?

Yes, I have five that are in that configuration at the moment.  They suck equally.

I have two Colts that have oversized trigger pins and shaved carriers. Does not affect funtion. If you are after a new "match" type trigger, they sell them for the oversized pins for the same price.

I fail to see the problem.
