So, I've read another thread with all of you Colt fanatics and I am confused...

I have a Colt MT6400 that I have replaced the flash hider and stock, among other non-permanent upgrades.
What is the deal with the M4 marked lower? Is this just something Colt fanatics are obsessed with, or is it something more?
Are the trigger pins a different size than other AR15s? I assume the take-down pins are the same as other AR15s.

I'm considering finishing an 80% lower and either putting my MT6400C upper on it, or building a whole rifle from scratch, 100% the way I want.
What do you Colt fanatics think I should do?
Should I sell my lower? What is it worth by itself?
Should I sell the rifle as a whole? What is it worth? I've kept this rifle in pristine shape.

It sounds like I may have a rifle that is worth more than a comparable non-Colt AR15 that we see for sale?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy that owns several Colt MT6400/6400R's....because I live in a ban state.

They are all Colt, all excellent rifles, but not in any way rare, or worth more $ than a compareable 6920/6940.
If they were made after mid 2009, they will have standard size FCG pins.

They are awesome for us ban state Colt lovers, especially in NJ who specifically prohibit anything marked Colt AR-15....but specify that the Colt Match Target rifles are a-ok!

IMHO, the M4 roll mark is no big deal. They shoot the same regardless of how Colt marked them.

the deal with the M4 marked lower, is alot of people want a M4 marked lower not just "colt fanatics" as you mildly insultingly put it
the pins are large FCG pins if it was made before 09. this is not a issue
why use a 80 percent lower? you got a colt lower, the best there is
no you should not sell it. its not worth as much as you think since lowers with small FCG and more sexy rollmarks can be had now
its worth what you can get from it. its not rare and if you used it at all or changed it the value will drop unless you are trying to rip off some poor guy in a ban state

no it is certainly not worth more then comparable ar15 colts for sell. if anything, for the rest of the country, its not very appealing when you can get a new 6920 marked M4 carbine on it just like is issued to the gov with  milspec standard sized  FCG pins

sorry if thats bad news for you if you thought you had something rare.  3 years ago and you could have done pretty well selling it to  someone wanting to make a clone of the M4 and wanted the roll mark on it pretty badly.  Now .... I doubt clone builders would even give it a 1 second glance

Shawn summed it up very well.  I had one and sold it as soon as the new M4 roll marked lowers came out as I was never a fan of the "Match Target" nomenclature.  Is it a big deal and does it really matter? No, but I wanted my M4 clone to be as correct as possible and the new M4 roll mark pretty much is.  I sold mine complete for $450.00 which is probably about what you can currently get for yours.

Cheers

Thanks for the good info.
I didn't think it was anything special, but some people had me wondering with their fascination over the M4 stamps.

I didn't mean to be insulting with "Colt fanatics"... I just didn't know what else to say.
