That would have to be a SOCOMII for that price.

The rail system.  SOCOM I has a KAC RAS, SOCOM II has a DD RIS.

Even though the widely distributed picture of the SOCOMII shows the rifle with a removable carry handle, it ships with a MaTech rear sight.

is that a heavy barrel on the SOCOMII?

I believe the Socom II has a Heavy barrel.

The SOCOM and the SOCOM II both have a heavy SOCOM profile 16" barrel.  The only difference between the two rifles is the rail.

Does anyone know how much heavier the 16" SOCOM barrel is than the 16" 6920 barrel ?

4oz, if I'm not mistaken.  I don't have a scale that precise, but I don't feel a difference.

I know the SOCOM profile was developed to help the barrel perform better under F/A conditions.

Has anyone determined if the accuracy of the 16" SOCOM barrel is better than the 6920 barrel ?

The SOCOM 14.5 barrel weight 4oz more than the 14.5 gov profile. How much does the extra inch and a half of a 16 inch barrel weigh?

The barrel is only thicker under the handgaurds.  So, presumably, it's still 4oz.

Socom - M4 = 4oz,  (Socom+1.5") - (M4+1.5") = 4oz

Member Molon had tested the 14.5" SOCOM profile barrel in the past, they're better than the government profile 6920 barrels but only slightly worst than the 6721 HBAR heavy barrel.

Picked it up yesterday, took a few pics before I cleaned the preservative off, and gave a good coating of CLP to everything...

Congrats, that's nice.

How does the heavy profile barrel feel when you swing it or carry it around?

I have almost the same setup with KAC M4 RAS rails on my SP6920 carbine and it felt kind of nose heavy compared to my new LE6920 with the standard M4 handguards I got several weeks ago.

I can't tell the difference between it, and my LE6920, but I haven't packed it around for hours either...  They are basically identical now.  I threw a Surefire 961 on the SOCOM, and the LE has a 951.  I plan to swap my ACOG to the SOCOM, but maybe put an Aimpoint on the LE.  Hopefully I'll be able to get out, and put a few rounds through it soon.

I can't tell from the pic... does it have the M203 cutouts under the handguards?

No M203 flats milled under the hand guard.  That's not a big deal for me.
