| I purchased my first Colt today, a 6920MP-B. There is a slight wiggle in-between the upper and lower. I always thought of Colt as having good lockup. Should I call colt or just get an Accuwedge like I normally would? |

I'm on my 10th Colt now, I had 6 carbines and rifles before and currently have 4, two 6721 carbine, a SP6920 M4 carbine and a USGI M16A2 Colt upper half on MT6601 rifle lower.
All of them have some wiggle between the upper and lower, some with more, some average and some less but there are always some movement, it doesn't affect the accuracy because your sights and barrel are on the upper, it might be annoying but that's the nature of the AR system. If you wanted almost no play between the upper and lower get a set of RRA upper and lower which is known for tight fit of the receivers. If you want to use an Accuwedge try to find them at a very low price, don't buy it retail price they cost too much for just a molded rubber. I got a free Accuwedge when I bought an upper so I use it only for the target range, but I remove it when I get home in case I have to use my rifle for defense, I don't want the Accuwedge in my rifle that could get loose and jam my fire control group. |

I've always feared the Accuwedge...my reasoning is that it can change, if ever so slightly, the interface angle of the bolt carrier to the receiver extension. This change could possibly lead to a situation similar to carrier tilt in piston ARs. I know it's a stretch.
I have four Colts and access to many more and the play is common if variable. The worst play I have in an AR is with a Noveske upper on a Colt lower. My full Noveske AR is similar to my Colts. I don't worry about it. |
