I'm contemplating purchasing a 6940 in the near future and I was wanting some input from people who own or have handled this particular rifle. One thing I was curious about is the hand guard. In most of the reviews I have read most people talk about the length of the hand guard and I'm okay with the carbine length rail. What I was curious about is how the handguard felt in hand or circumfrance of the rail. It looks kind of thick or wide compared to other rails. Predator/Shawn I know you guys have this rifle and I'd love to hear some input from you two.
Thanks.. |

To me it feels like my KAC RAS rails. In fact when I put the factory rail covers on, it feels thinner than the RAS with KAC rail panels.
Don't quote me on it, but I actually think the 6940 rail is thinner than the DD quad rail forends too. For me, the only legit complaint about the 6940 rail is that it's not long enough for those with the Chris Costa shooting technique, which I am becoming more and more a fan of. But for you if you don't mind the carbine length rail, then you'll love the 6940. |

rail feels pretty slim in the hand to me I added a rear QD socket as well. the 6940 usually feels lighter then a 6920 with a aftermarket rail. I think it is their finest rifle they have made thus far. not wide or bulky at all +1. By far the best rifle they have made to date in my opinion. |

| The 6940 is my first AR. After alot of research on this forum and many others I pulled the trigger on a LE. I don't have anything to compare it too, but I am completely satisfied. The person I bought it from had 2 for sale, he collects Colts, and a friend of mine who just got back from Iraq on his second tour bought the other. He said it was the only AR he would buy given all the choices out there..totally dependable in every enviroment thrown at you...I use mine strictly for varmit hunting and have a 4x12x40 Bushnell Elite on it. I am, though, saving my money for a CR6720 after it came highly recommended from most on this site as the ultimate in a varmit hunting AR. The scope will go on it and I will probably use the 6940 for home defense and just all around fun rifle. Sure am glad I reload since I shoot mine so often !! Good luck in your decision. |
