Don't do it!!! AR-15 + piston is bad news. Google images of "piston carrier tilt". All of the companies that say they have fixed piston carrier tilt, including Colt, lie.

Wrong and wrong. My LWRC M6A2 has thousands of rounds through it and has yet to experience any sort of malfunction. Any. Zero signs of carrier tilt.

Can't say the same for other companies' after market drop in kits, however, but in the world of piston ARs, LWRC is King, so, take it how you will.

pistons are a solution for a non issue

Your logic and debate skills suck. If my one example isn't enough proof, one naysayer quoted isn't sufficient proof of the opposite then either.

This isn't a forum to debate Piston vs DI. Take it GD please...

I wasnt trying to start a argument. Just wanted to know if anyone had done this. I am considering one to possibly smooth what little recoil the 223 has, Maybe I will just look into an aftermarket upper.

dont get buttshurt over it

if you wan to pound your chest over how awesome  piston is, go in the piston forum   where it belongs,so OP thread isnt ruined  by  piston lover  debates

From what I understand, piston systems kick more because of more moving parts... Is that my misconception?
11/8/2011 10:50:13 AM EDT
[#14]
If it does, I don't notice it. I've never heard the complaint that it kicks more, though midlength piston systems are known for a softer recoil than carbine length. I have a carbine length but it's a tack driver nonetheless.

Anyone who presumes to know what a weapon is being used for is a IDIOT.  Transitioning from target to target on the clock means ANY reduction in muzzle flip will help a dot track better.  Why do IDIOTS ASSUME things they have not one whit of info on. Thanks for showing us all your a IDIOT!

Settle down there buddy.. I was joking around... No need to act like a little kid and name call.

If you want to reduce muzzle flip as much as possible, I strongly suggest a battle comp (which I mentioned in my previous post.)

I have an Adams Arms piston kit on one of my rifles. it runs very well. I also own DI guns that run equally well. my piston gun is a little more front heavy but it runs a little cleaner. is it a revolutionary change? nope. I love them both

So how was I to know that? All that was there was the comment. If I say anyone who is willing to kiss your wife is a brave man would you take it as a joke or insult? You have no way to judge context but can only go by what is written. Yes?  Dont backpeddle. It was a simple question and you made a smart ass comment.

So report it francis. I had a simple question that got stomped all over by a couple of adam henries. And now they act like they dont know why it went to shit.

Matter of fact if you 2 fine examples of helpful info can point out the mod Id be glad to report it so maybe we can have the assinine back and forth deleted.

Dude! Let it go...

My post was a joke and actually more directed at Plissken (the post above my joking post) who came in and started trolling the thread. I posted the comment very quickly and didn't take the time to quote him or add my usual after the comment, so I'll apologize for that.

You need to get over it though man. Life is too short to have such a strong emotional reaction to posts on the internet.

And I'll say for the third time.. Battle Comp. Don't put a piston conversion kit in your Colt. If you want to run it as smooth as possible, the battle comp will do it, a conversion kit will not.

Oh and there was no back peddling. When I make mistakes, I own it and have done so on several occasions here in the Colt forum. This is not one of those times...
