Has anyone ever sent their bolt and carrier off to have a chrome or any other finish applied?   Ease of cleaning is what I am after. Suggestions?

My ruger sr556 came with the bolt carrier chromed from the factory, and it takes maybe 10 seconds to whipe the enitre outside and inside off without any scrubbing. Compared to previuos standard setups, its much better. Do it.

In a Marine voice, "If Colt wanted you to have a chrome bolt, Colt would have issued you a chrome bolt."

Here's my duty 6920 w/ NP3'd BCG.    It's definitely easier to clean.

Is that the one that came with the weapon and you sent it off and had it done or did you replace the one that came with it with that one. It looks really nice.

what do you mean "clean"

I have not cleaned mine in 3000 rounds.    squirt  il on it and keep going.    a once a year cleaning is not that much trouble if you do decide to clean

This is the one that came with the rifle.....I sent it out to Robar back in '03 iirc.     I think I paid like $120 back then less s/h, and I think it's nice too.

Hard chroming a bolt carrier would add a few .001's to the dimensions. This is not desirable.
