Whats the average turn around time to get a rifle back from Colt.  Im having some issues with my M4 not running right on full auto, and sometimes on semi.  Trigger is not resetting even with numerous manual cycles.  I think I may just replace all the parts on it with a backup we have but if I need to I'd rather get it sent in to get fixed properly, with quality parts.

It really just depends on how busy they are. I haven't personally sent anything back to Colt, but I've heard of people getting firearms back within a couple weeks and I have heard of some not getting their firearms back for a couple years... I don't know what the real story is with the latter, but I do know that it just depends on how backed up they are.

If I were you, I would try to fix the issue myself. When you say the trigger doesn't reset, does that mean the disconnector is engaging the hammer and not releasing it? In full auto, the disconnector shouldn't even touch the hammer. Or is the trigger sear skipping the hammer, thus the hammer continues to fall forward even when the trigger is released (not touched)?

You can get a full genuine Colt replacement parts set from Specialized Armament Warehouse - http://www.specializedarmament.com/, but that's going to cost you money.

Also what ammo are you running and are you using the factory "H" buffer?

Replacing everything in the lower tonight with a extra gun we have and see if that works.  Just noticed today that when they sent us new buffers and springs a few months ago, they are unmarked.  I checked and the old one has an H but this new one has nothing on it.  I'm going to switch back to the H too and see if that does it.

So you have a standard carbine buffer it sounds like, which is a lighter buffer. If you shoot hotter ammo with a standard buffer, you are going to increase your chances of bolt bounce, which sounds like your problem right now. If I were you, I wouldn't change out any parts except for the buffer.

Also what ammo are you running and are you using a silencer at all?

Nope no silencer....illegal for even us in this great state.  Ammo it jammed on was regular WWB.  Never had an issue with them before tho.

I believe Winchester White Box ammo would be 5.56mm then, which is a much hotter round than your typical .223 ammo. So I'll go out on a limb and say that once you put the H buffer back in, your problems will be resolved. If not, then I would get a Colt H2 buffer from Specialized Armament and run that instead of the H.

Also are you seeing light primer strikes when the problem occurs?

I find it hard to believe Colt is sending out old standard weight carbine buffers.

It sounds like the H buffer was replaced with a standard carbine after the purchase.

That is correct.  It was replaced with the wrong buffer.  My fault for not checking and trusting in someone else.  Oh well.  Testing tomorrow so we will see.  Yes there are light primer strikes on the live round after I eject it.

That's bolt bounce. The heavier buffer will fix you up and you be back to doing what I do!
