There is a post in the EE with an interesting rollmark; I have never seen a shield next to the prancing pony.

Rollmark

Interesting. Looks legit, but what's up with the Barska scope on a custom rifle?

Also, the seller has 2 posts/May 2010 join date. I'd think twice before sending him $2K.

The rollmark is cool but the price is way out of line.

I forget what that rollmark is exactly, but Shawn knows.

It's rare and legit.

It looks like someone indicated in the post that the shield is Sam Colt's family crest.  Who knows but interesting nontheless?

Speaking of unusual rollmarks on Colts, does anyone have better pictures of SAW's rollmarked lowers?  Does anyone know if the Operator model rifles come with a SAW marked lower?  I'm almost tempted to pick one up just for the rollmark to add to my collection... especially seeing as how I'm considering a Form 4 Colt SBR to go with the Form 1 Colts I've got.

I fondled several last year at a gunstore in Arizona.
It was absolutely under whelming.
Just a generic lower with most of the parts taken off of Colts.
At a price that was higher than NIB Colts.

IIRC SAW had a run a few years ago of Colt lowers rollmarked "AR-15 Lighweight" .  I believe a stripped lower was $400.00; they may have some left over.

Cheers

All of the other pictures of the SAW Operator models seem to have standard 6921 or 6920 lowers, a shame, but unsurprising, but I was just curious about that first picture there which looks like a Colt select fire lower (look at the MFG information, it's tiny and illegible in the picture, but it looks awful like a COLT'S MFG. CO. INC. / HARTFORD, CONN. / –––– U.S.A. –––– marking, but with the SPECIALIZED ARMAMENT / SAW Crest / M4A1 / 5.56 MM rollmarking on the magwell unlike traditional Colt lowers that I find interesting.  I don't care enough about the rollmarks to specifically buy a stripped lower with a "special" marking, but as I've been considering the purchase of an SBR Colt anyways, I wouldn't necessarily be against putting a little over the top if I could get the SAW / Colt lower in an SA version, I've got plenty of Colt lowers anyways, it'd have to be something real specialized for me to pay extra, it's not like I look at my rollmarks too often anyways, pony's a pony, it's only special if it's a pony without a pony.
