I am thinking about adding a Larue free float hand guard and low pro gas block to my 6920
Someone told me it would be difficult for a gun smith to do this and that I should just build a new upper
I watched a video on the Larue site and they made it look like a 20 min job to install the new rail
So which would you guys suggest I do?

Thanks

I believe you should be fine.  None of this would be difficult for a gunsmith, and it certainly shouldn't be that great an undertaking for yourself.

Go for it, and post pics!

I'd say go for it.  I did it to mine.  Make sure you have the right tools and it won't be hard.  I had never taken a barrel off and put it back on until I did it to my 6920.  Took about 30mins

What tools would be required to do such a job?
I have a whole bunch of tools from working on cars and such, I don't have any weapon specific tools though

thanks

Need to get a barrel wrench, an upper block, bench vise, good set of punches, big hammer, and a torque wrench.  Then the right kind of grease to put on the threads for when you screw the barrel nut back on.  Thats about it.  It isn't that hard to do.  Also take a look at the tacked threads in the build it yourself forum for some tips on different things.
