| I've been shopping for an AR of some variety for awhile now (yes, watching prices escalate wildly, and ammo evaporate before my very eyes), but I must go through my process. Anyway, I have what is probably a stupid question. Some of Colt's AR's are stamped with these dire warnings "Restricted" and "Restricted; Law Enforcement Use Only" or some such language. My question is: does this mean anything? I'm just a civilian living in Texas. Am I not allowed to own one of these things (like the 6920)? My gut tells me that I could stamp for "For Armegeddon Only" and it would have the all of the legal effect of a do not disturb sign. |

Don't worry about it, they are left overs from the ban. Buy and be happy. I would say at this late date it is a marketing gimmick. wrong. they are on the gun because the MT line is ban state legal, and they are not Like I said, marketing gimmick.

Did you not understand what he said? For example you can't own a LE6920 in New York, but you can own a MT6400C. The LE/MIL/GOV marks are there so they can't be used in a state like New York. How is that a marketing gimmick? By the way, other AR15 manufacturers put them on their guns as well...

I can buy guns with that marking as a private individual and not violate any law. The other models are legal in those states because of their configuration, not because they lack some trendy 2005 markings. |

yeah and a lot of people have no idea. thats why thy are marked. but we all know colt spends soooo much time and money on advertising ![]() I'm thinking the gimmick is aimed towards governmental purchasing agents and agency decision makers. "Gotta buy Colt... it's restricted from sale to mere civilians!" |
