Local shop has one for $1250 and I didn't think I wanted an AR after trading my Bushmaster for a SIG 556... But the SIG is heavy and I've got it set up with a Magpul PRS and 1.5-4.5x scope for precision type shooting as it's incredibly stable off of a bipod...

A question I must ask is do I have to worry about messed up trigger pin or reciever pin sizes or is it standard AR-15 across the board???  I know some Colts have this issue I'm completely ignorant of the subject..

It felt so sweet to bring it up to the shoulder I love the sight picture and how light and quick it is to point and I think I really need another carbine..

Jus, the Colt AR15 rifles use pins that are slightly larger in diameter in their lowers (The diameter is .170 vs the military standard of .155)

This makes absolutely zero difference, and is arguably more dependable, as they are less likely to break.

The down-side is that you will not be able to illegally convert your Colt to fire full-automatic, or use FA fire control pins in them.

The Colt 6920 is widely regarded as the definitive civilian AR15, as it most closely resembles the real-deal Colt M4 in military service.

$1,250 is a pretty good price.

So the trigger pins are larger?  What if I wanted to put an aftermarket trigger in it???

Are the reciever pins standard sized?  I'd most likely end up with a few different uppers I'd like to be able to swap out..

Don't let the trigger pins sway you. Plenty of aftermarket triggers if you need to upgrade. My 6920 is my favorite AR. Check out this link. Might help make up your mind.

Get the 6920 and never look back! There is a reason they cost more than most AR's($1250 is good price by the way). Colt's QA is head and shoulders above anything else on the market IMO. I own a couple of Bushmasters and a RRA, but I am a Kool-Aid drinker at heart!

That's a good price... I'd jump if I didn't already have one !   This is the one
all the koolaid drinkers dream about; so what are you waiting for ???      Of
course, then you'll have to have all the rest of the LE line; which is why Col.
Colt is rolling in dough and the rest of us are broke !

I paid $1299 (it was over $1400 by the time the smoke cleared) for my 6920 in 2004 after the ban. I bought mine during the "Colt won't sell LEO rifles to civies and dealers can't get them BS". Get them while you can, because things could change for the worse if the Dems with the 2008 elections.

I have been spoiled by my SIG 556 as far as operating systems go.. the upper reciever stays so clean after hundreds of rounds even of Wolf... The gas system even has the option of shutting it off to shoot handloads without chasing brass halfway 'cross the county.. Even so I guess I did have a soft spot for the Bushmaster I used to have it was the same configuration as the 6920 except it was the A2 upper...

Combine that with the reputation these Colts appear to have in the AR-15 community and the upcoming political climate..... I just could not let this one get away... I put it on layaway and now need to find a way to pay this rifle off and get it safely into my safe where it belongs.
