| Guys I found a COLT SP1 for sale. It is in the 52,000 serial number range. The gun looks unfired. It comes with the original bax, manual, sling and cleaning kit. The man who is selling it claims he bought the gun new. What would you think the value of the gun would be? He is asking $1350 |
| That might be a little on the high side, but with box and all the other goodies not that bad. I bought one not too long ago and it too didn't seem to be fired. Didn't have a scratch on it. I paid 1200 for it. I didn't get the box or manual. So if you really want it go for it. I know I paid a little more than I wanted to, but one in unfired condition isn't too easy to find. |

SP1s are a "dime a dozen" so to speak. Several hundred thousand of them out there. That being said, the ones in excellent to new condition are getting harder to find, especially those with the 3 prong flash hider. Something new in box w/3 prong flash hider is becoming a collectable. I've seen 3 digit serial numbered SP1s go for over $5000. A plain jane one would be $900. If the one you have is a 3 prong I would guess $1250-$1350 would be fair. If it's an A2, probably $100 less. But look at it this way...unfired ones in boxes don't come around often. If he won't go down, will you regret not paying a bit more in a couple years? |
| Thanks for the info. This one does not have the 3 prong flash hider . I searched around on the internet and saw what people are asking for them, but none came with original box , manual, sling and cleaning kit. The fellow had the gun in a local shop on consignment for 3 months and no one bit . He claims the gun blue book has the value at $1750-$1800. I'll probaly just pass on it. |
I bought a minty SP1 in the serial number range you mentioned. Birdcage flash hider, triangular handguards, Colt scope with A1 mount, sling, bayonette and a bunch of assorted 20 and 30 round magazines for $1000 seven or eight years ago. I wouldn't sell it for what your seller is asking. Bruce Kirchner |
