I was cruising Gunbroker just checking out some of the insane prices some are asking there and came across this: Colt SP1 Carbine or is it a SP1 carbine? Looks to have a heavier barrel than the standard SP1 carbine, tapered slip ring not straight, and it appears to be an A1 stock rather than the 2 position buttstock. I emailed the seller and asked him what model it was, what the barrel twist rate was, etc. *UPDATE WHILE TYPING* Seller responded that it is a 6551 which doesn't make sense to me unless someone changed the upper. |
| This is an SP1 that had the barrel changed out. If it originally came with a collapsible stock, you would see the left-over staking marks on the rear of the lower receiver ring. It looks like they stuck a 16" heavy barrel (a la 6721 tactical carbine barrel - if its marked Colt) and handguards on it. |
