Hello. I just sold all of my Bushmasters & am in the process of buying COLT rifles, but have a few questions Is there a secret handshake in this "cult" or what? |
Absolutely. The fire control group of the CR6724 is Colt's updated comp trigger. It consists of a shaved hammer, updated springs, stainless steel pins, and a new trigger. Here is a pic of Colt's comp trigger in one of my rifles: All Colt semiautomatic weapons are shipped with .170" fire control pins. The Colt haters would have you think it's a big deal, but it isn't. Colt fire control parts can be purchased anywhere. Hell, even Bushmaster sells them HERE All new factory Colts come with a standard military front pushpin. They stopped using the screw in the mid 90s. Here's a pic: |
| Specialized Armament is the one place that will have anything you need from Colt for your Colt. It ain't cheap, but it is the best around! |

Thanks guys. I have been trying to get through to SA for three weeks now. I actually went ahead a purchased two rifles from another dealer. I email & call, but nothing. The message just says that they are backed up. They lost close to 3k from me alone. They may want to consider hiring someone? Any secrets for getting ahold of these folks? Thanks again for the advice. -Justin PS. Thanks for the pics. Above & beyond. You should be a mod. |
I recommend patience with Specialized Armament. Ken is often on the road doing armorer training and Tina handles sales. The majority of their business is federal, state, and local LE agencies -- and that business is significant. Awhile back there was a thread or two on this issue with a lot of internet commandos trashing the company. It was unfortunate; we lost the participation of a knowledgeable Colt armorer, Ken Elmore. I have spent a few grand with SA and I too have sometimes had to wait awhile before hearing from Tina. For me, the wait is worth it. It's not about the fastest or the cheapest, it's about the best. YMMV. |
| I'm wondering what made you decide to dump your Bushies? I have one that's a tack driver....the other won't hit the broad side of a barn, and it's new!. I just sent it back to them for repair. But if it doesn't come back fixed, THE FIRST TIME, it's going down the road for a Colt or Armalite. |
| My Bushmasters all ran great, only stoppages were self induced(thumb over ejection port firing from weak side). But I take comfort in the fact that thoes markings stamped on my barrel mean MY barrel was tested & not 1 in x amount were tested w/in th lot. I like the fact that my bolt has also been proof tested & is not going to go TU if I actually need this thing. I purchased my Colt cabine for just over $130 more than similar BM, to me it was worth it. -Justin |
