Judging from (2) 6721 in my possession, the answer is Yes.

Shaved, with a landing strip down the middle.

Oh wait.  You were asking about the Colt bolt carrier. . .

Does Colt sell standard bolt/carrier assemblies to replace the shaved versions ?

Colt quit making the regular full circle SP1 semi auto carrier aound 1988-89. They only make shaved Sporters and M16 style carriers now.

From what I`ve seen on my 6400c there isn`t any major problem just rotate your buffer after your done shooting.

However I heard on F/A its a bad thing.

That being said I`d still rather have the old style S/A bolt carrier.

Colt has been using shaved carriers for about 15 years with no problems that I have seen or heard about so dont worry. If your patient you can still find an early production full circle Colt bolt carrier in nice shape at your local gun show or on the Internet. However expect to pay a premium price for it.

My two oldest Colts are 14 years old. Between them they have 30,000 rounds through them. Both have cut carriers, and there has never been a problem with either. The original buffers look good also.

I use three kinds of Colt carrier: cut, full circle, and full circle M16. I've never had a problem with any of them, except that I paid a bloody fortune for the old full circle variant.

Thanks all !
My green label R6550 has the full circle but my blue label R6520 has the cut/shaved version.
I had been thinking about getting a couple of spares and was just going to get the full circle style but haven't been able to find any.
