How can I tell if my fire control group is Colt?  The disconnector is marked CS, the trigger is marked M or E, and the hammer is unmarked.  The selector lever also has an E marking.  Also, is there any way to tell if a receiver extension is Colt?

Brad,

I'm afraid I can't answer your questions but I will suggest calling Colt Customer Service and asking them.  They SHOULD be able to tell you what those markings mean or if they mean anything at all.  Contrary to popular belief Colt's Customer Service isn't that bad.  I had one so-so phone call with them but every other time I called (just to ask questions that I saw pop up on the boards) they were very helpful and polite.

Also you may want to call the folks at www.sawlesales.com.  They should be able to help you too.  They are not in good standings with the folks here on the site but they know Colts and were very nice to me the one time I called.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks.  I've actually dealt with Ken and Tina at SAW quite a bit and they have been very helpful.  Just as an aside, I recently purchased a RRA lower parts kit and made the following observations:

1. Both the RRA and Colt triggers are identical to include the "M" marking.  The Colt has a portion of the tail of the trigger machined away, though.
2. Both the RRA and Colt disconnectors are identical to include the "CS" marking.
3. Both the RRA and Colt hammers are different.
4. Both the RRA and Colt hammer/trigger springs are different.

Perhaps RRA and Colt get their internals from the same source, but Colt makes their own hammers and springs for some reason.

MT - This is great information!  What is your source?  Please don't think I'm questioning you but this stuff is good to know and I'd like to know the source.

Thanks!
