So I have a Remington 783 that I am planing to buy a scope for in one month. The purpose of the scope is target shooting and hunting at 200 yards or less most of the time with occasionally shooting out to 600 yards and maybe 800. The scopes I am looking at are the; Diamond back 4-12 or the Razor 3-9. This will keep me in my budget for rings, bases and a set of 308 dies. Any help would be great.

There is no such thing as a Razor 3-9.  Do you mean Viper 3-9?

You really can't go wrong with either one. They are both great scopes, although between those two I may lean just slightly towards the 4-12 Diamondback with the adjustable objective because it will allow you to correct for parallax for the longer range stuff at 600-800 yards. The 3-9 Viper doesn't have a parallax adjustment, so you won't be able to do that. There is a 4-12 Viper that has a side parallax adjustment, but the Diamondback is a great scope and will save you a little bit of cash for rings and bases.
