I'm very interested in this optic. I was wondering if we could get a review on it. Thanks.

I'm sure you probably do other stuff well Vortex, but I think you should be the "all time" video/PR guy for them. Did they take you to SHOT this past year? If not... Let's (head vortex man) get Jimmy on the plane next year.

Haha I do an assortment of different things here at the office and elsewhere and yes they have taken me to SHOT every year. Here's my "sneak peak at the new 2014 stuff" video I did while out there:

Likely mid-late May at the soonest. This is only an estimate, though. The actual arrival time could be sooner or later then that. Thanks again and please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. I would be happy to help.

Would this be a good option for a home defense gun / target  gun. I want something good for up close but still able to shoot out 200 or so yards.

Absolutely, it would be a great choice for that.

Will it hold zero if unmounted and do you know if anyone's making a quick release mount for it? Thanks

Nobody that I'm aware of makes a quick release mount for it and the mount will return to zero if you can re-mount it in the same position as when you had it mounted in the first place.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for. I think you guys will do very well with the new Spitfire, since Vortex already has a pretty solid reputation. I am looking forward to picking one up. The reticle, size, and features seem to put it ahead of the other 3x prism sights I have been looking at (Cabela's 3x Tactical Prism, Burris AR-332, Sightmark Wolfhound 3x)

Hey thanks again for the support- we really appreciate it. We will get them out as fast as possible!

What's the benefit of a prism sight like the Spitfire over a reflex like the Sparc or Strikefire?

In my mind, there are two potential advantages- 1. shooters that suffer from an astigmatism will generally not experience the same blurring/star-busting effect that they will with the regular red dot sights and 2. if the battery dies on a prism scope, you still have a black reticle inside. You will be able to shoot with or without illumination in that case- which ever suits your needs best. Thanks and let me know if you have further questions.

I got to handle one of these today and they are very nice.  I was surprised to see one on the shelf and the guy said they just got them in a couple days ago.  Once I get my AR I will definitely consider one of these spitfire prism scopes.

one suggestion for the 3x, the rail mount knobs need to be on the left side. it protrudes out too much when mounted in front of buis above the ejection port. i was afraid that the eye relief won't be enough with this placement, but it's just right.

now, i observe that the mounts are based off of Comp M4 somewhat with different hex screw locations. i'm currently looking for existing QD option that may fit the spitfire. ARMS #74 looks like it may work, but the hex screw holes would only allow me to mount it with the lever on the ejection side. i suggest collaborating with american defense on a QD solution. all we need is an adapter/riser that fits their existing AD-B4 base.

That's definitely good feedback too- I will pass that along. Thanks and let us know if you have further questions.

Can you tell me what size the dot is on the 1x Spitfire. I looked on the website and saw the Strikefire was 4 moa and the Sparc was 2 moa but didn't see anything about the Spitfire. Thanks in advance.

The center dot is 3 MOA
