Was just looking thru your 2013 cataloge and found the VMX-3T magnifier. Interesting; is the eye relief listed really going to be 3+ inches?

I hate to ask, (but will..) any idea when it may be available and possible price?

Available in April. MSRP is $299.00. Dealers will apparently carry it between $220 - $230 according to Vortex via Facebook.

[#3]
I got to take a look at a sample today and the eye relief is actually closer to 2.5 inches.

Better then the old one, thanks for the info gents!!

Any update on when and where these new magnifiers will be available? This looks like a great 3X to put behind the SPARC. I like the idea that it comes with a good flip to the side mount.

Please know that anytime a new product is coming to the market, any ETA is a very rough estimate and sometimes tentative at best. I can't give you any sort of exact dates so take all of this with a grain of salt but at this time it appears that they could show up as early as mid-late April and the backorders will continue to be filled as out subsequent deliveries roll in. I hope that helps but please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for your patience and enthusiasm!

It looks like you can order the VMX-3T from Cabelas with an 'estimated' 1-2 week ship date. Is this unrealistic or did the release date get pushed up?
3/19/2013 4:49:32 AM EDT
[#8]
That seems a bit unrealistic at this point. Right now, it is looking like late May at the very soonest and the first order is sold out already. Thanks guys, and let me know if you have any other questions.
3/21/2013 5:18:46 AM EDT
[#9]
Will this use spacers to get a lower 1/3 co-witness? What is the space between the bottom of the tube and rail? (Will it clear most BUIS?)
3/21/2013 5:46:00 AM EDT
[#10]
It comes with a spacer that will allow it to run lower 1/3 cowitness. And yes, it willl clear low-profile backup iron sights.

[#11]
Besides costs, why did you guys decide make the mount screw on as opposed to having a quick disconnect? Any option to purchase the optic alone, if so will it be cheaper?
3/22/2013 4:55:30 AM EDT
[#12]

The magnifier/mount was not made as a quick release mount because it would have made the unit more expensive and there are so many patents on quick-release mounts that it would have made selecting a design difficult.

Would changing the screw to a t bar type nut void the warranty on the mount? Also, will the larue tall FTS mount be compatible?

Thanks again,
Randy
3/22/2013 9:46:52 AM EDT
[#14]
There is no mount compatible with out new VMX3-T, and you may feel free to replace the nut- it will not void the warranty.

So the may shipment is sold out already? What list do you get on to have a chance at the second batch?
3/25/2013 8:25:07 AM EDT
[#16]
They have been comitted- that's not to say it's impossible to get one from that shipment, although I predict that they will be very tight. I would recommend getting in touch with one of our dealers who is taking preorders and placing an order as soon as possible. We would get your order out as soon as we can. Thanks again.
4/1/2013 9:50:45 AM EDT
[#17]
How well will the vmx-3t work with an eotech xps2?  Also, do you have a list of retailers aside from the big names (brownells, CTD, Midway) that will be carrying this?

Thanks
4/3/2013 11:11:22 AM EDT
[#18]
The magnifier should work with any red dot sight as long as the red dot sight is made to sit at the same height as the magnifier (absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness height). Just about any Vortex Optics dealer should be able to order this magnifier up for you if you ask them. Thanks again- let me know if you have any other questions.
4/3/2013 1:10:04 PM EDT
[#19]
Checked the Vortex website, no Vortex dealers in my area, unfortunately.
4/3/2013 1:17:25 PM EDT
[#20]
All of the suggested online retailers would be great options to consider, also.

I went ahead and ordered through optics planet.  They are supposed to be getting in 60 on their next shipment.  I was number 68 on the backorder list.  What's the chance of sending optics planet 70 instead of 60?!?!?!
4/4/2013 7:11:00 AM EDT
[#22]
Haha it's hard to say, but I would not hold my breath for it. The first shipment was sold out a long time ago. We will definitely get yours out as soon as possible, though! Thanks again.

Damn....just got off the phone with OpticsPlanet.....not good.

I am number 73....probably won't see mine until June-ish...hopefully.

Was looking to take the AR (w/VMX-3T & Strikefire) to WV with me to go hunting with an Army buddy, but doesn't look like it's gonna happen now.

2 months?  DAMN.

[#24]
That's definitely a tough spot to be in and I'm sorry that the item will be backordered when it hits the market. However, please appreciate that this item isn't even expected to start shipping until roughly late May/early June so even if it weren't getting heavily backordered right out of the gate, there is still no guarantee that you would have it in time for your hunt, as we can never guarantee any release date. Once again, this is just an ETA and the actual delivery times could be sooner or later but the backorders will start getting filled quickly once the initial orders start coming in. I apologize for the wait associated with the release of new products but if you hang out and wait for the magnifier, I think you will find that the wait will be worth it. Optics Planet is a good dealer to have the order with but keep hunting as the magnifiers start shipping. It would be possible to find a dealer who has one on the shelf, ready to ship. Thanks again and please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I will just have to pull the scope off the 30.06 for this trip.....not a huge deal....was just looking forward to using the new magnifier with my AWESOME AS HELL Strikefire.

I will stick with OpticsPlanet....I just got excited when their 'estimate' said 11-21 days and then I see this thread and begin hearing about May/June.  Grrrrr.

Thanks, sir for your time and information.  I will wait it out with OpticsPlanet.....but I am a very impatient man (so my wife says).
4/10/2013 6:24:51 AM EDT
[#26]
Thanks for being a sport and waiting patiently. We will do our best to get them out and I totally understand you wanting to get your hands on one. Thanks again and please let me know if you have any other questions.

[#27]
Just contacted customer service for OpticsPlanet and authorized the go-ahead with the charge.  Even though I might be waiting for two more months, I will wait it out.  The last time I changed my mind on a product, I flip-flopped back and forth and ended up paying a lot more for it because the prices jumped....I will hold tight and wait this one out.

Besides, OpticsPlanet has been nothing but AWESOME as of today with the customer service....I will gladly give up my money for a company that still appreciates the customers....for sure.

Playing the waiting game now.....

Sounds like a great plan to me! Thanks again and let me know if you have any further questions.
4/15/2013 6:45:32 PM EDT
[#29]
Has anything changed?  Optics planet says it will ship within 5-15 days again.

Turns out my ETA charts were wrong, but in a good way. The first shipments are going out as we speak. Obviously, this will not be enough to fulfill all the backorders but yes the VMX3-Ts are starting to ship out this week.

** Crossing my fingers **

Oh please, oh please, oh please......
4/21/2013 4:41:54 PM EDT
[#32]
Any updates?
4/22/2013 4:17:04 AM EDT
[#33]
Not sure what to say in terms of an update. The first shipments started going out last week and then we will have another shipment approximately mid-late May and subsequent shipments catching up with the backorders until early Fall. Thanks again and please let me know if you have any other questions.

[#34]
Ok........

Yeah I know it can be hard to wait for a product that has been anticipated for so long but we definitely thank you guys for hanging in there and being patient with us. We will definitely get things moving as quickly as we can. Thanks again.

Missed out on the first shipment after committing the funds to Opticsplanet.  Checked with PrimaryArms and they were in.....missed out.  Couldn't pull money back from Opticsplanet to buy one from PA.

The long wait ensues.

[#37]
Hang in there, bud. Sorry to hear about the wait but we will get them out as soon as possible. Thanks again.

I just bought my VMX3-T from cabelas.com. They still have them in stock. Also, bhphotovideo has them for preorder and the expected ship date is May 3rd. If you live in any state other than New York B&H Photo Video won't charge sales tax. Get em before they are sold out!

I ordered from B&H but I suspect they estimated their shipping dates wrong because I never recieved a ship notice from them.

UPDATE: B&H is a no go right now. They have no idea when the VMX-3T will be in stock at this point.

Thanks for the info, Traxx!

Try and cancel with OpticsPlanet (and attempt refund) to purchase from Cabelas (which are still in stock)??  Hmmmm.....might be worth the extra $20.

This is frustrating as hell.....dammit.

Sorry, I replied to the wrong comment there. Is there a way to contact Optics Planet directly to cancel the order via telephone or is that what you are trying already?

VMX-3T arrived this evening. Glass is very clear and the unit is a lot lighter and more compact than I expected. Mounting was easy and simple and it does not take up a lot of rail space. A T-Bar nut would be more ideal but the included nut works fine for now. ( If somone can point me in the right direction to get a T Nut please let me know)

I would like to have it flip to the right instead of left but It appears that would cause it to be hit by ejected brass.

The activation button on mine looks different than the one pictured in the manual, which is a good thing since this one looks to be more solid.

Over all it feels and appears to be another solid product from Vortex.

Very nice!  Can't wait to get mine.

Nice. Now how about one in a fixed base with your TMCQ reticle in it?

(Still longing for a lightweight compact 4X scope)
