I was looking into buying a new set of Binos, but since I put a premium on weight, and size I think I would like a monocular instead (I think anyway).  Looking on various websites, I noticed the Vortex 10X monocular, and it's low price, my question then is how does it perform?  I do alot of hunting will it do as well as my older Nikon, and Swarovski Binos (both are the lower end compact units)?  You know those damn deer like to show up in last few minutes of shooting light!  TIA for any info.

Well, there is truth to the saying that you get what you pay for in optics, so I won't try and claim that the Solo monocular is as good as a high end binocular, but we do try to make all of our products have the best value for the customer as possible.
Optically the Solo is really nice and performs great, but it won't be on par with say our Viper binoculars, or our Razor binoculars in terms of resolution and light transmission. Partially that will be due to the better coatings in our higher end optics, but also because that configuration of 10x25 has a pretty small exit pupil (2.5mm).
There is a 36mm Solo coming. We have the tactical version (with reticle) up on our tactical website here: http://www.vortextactical.com/product/vortex-solo-8x36-rt-tactical-monocular
That one will give you a 4.5mm exit pupil, which will help in low light much better. It is a little bit more money, but like I said you will be getting better performance. It's still going to be quite a bit lighter than a binocular too.
Probably the best thing to do is to go to the dealer locator and see if you can find a dealer in your area to try it out. Let me know if you have any trouble finding someone.
Hope this helps. Thanks!

Thanks for the info Sam, I don't mind paying a bit more either.  I could'nt find any dealers within 120 miles of me, any dealers in Arkansas or Missouri?

I only see one in MO. Aaron's Archery in Newburg. If that's too far I would call our sales staff and talk to them on Monday. They can probably help you find someone. 1-800-426-0048.

Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
