I got my StrikeFire 1 and half month ago, but I did not have a chance to try my new scope till this weekend. And I discovered this problem with the mount that came with my scope. It looks like it is out of specification.
Please see attach pictures and advice.
Thanks,
Cal

Hi travinh,

Before we have you go through the hassle of sending it back for another mount, lets try this first:

The hole in the clamping piece is actually a bit larger than the cross bolt. This means that the clamping piece has some ability to move around. If you loosen the cross bolt nut, then pull up on the bottom of the clamping piece and re-tighten I think it should line up just fine. I was able to duplicate the same thing here on one of the mounts and depending on where I had the clamping piece sitting when I tightened the nut it could either look like your picture, or look perfectly lined up.

Give that a go and if you still can't get it to line up correctly then give our CS a call at 1-800-426-0048 and we'll try sending you a new mount.

Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else.

Hi Sam,
I think I discovered the problem. It is either the cross bold is a little biger toward the screw thread or the cross bold slot underneath the mount base is smaller. The cross bold can not be pushed all the way into the pre-cut slot. If I use a hammer, I may be able to force it in, but refer not to do that. Because the cross bold is not fully seat, it create the uneven clamping.

Thanks,
Cal

Ok, in that case it sounds like a bad mount. We'll get you a new one. Give us a call tomorrow and our CS will take care of it for you. Sorry about your trouble.

Let me know if I can do anything else to help.

Great CS!
I received my replacement mount in two days.
I offerred to send back the bad mount, but Vortex does not want me to waste money to send back the bad one.

BTW, does Strikefire work well with 308 caliber? I would like to buy another one for my PTR91.

Thanks,
Cal

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, the StrikeFire will handle the recoil just fine with .308. We've tested it on everything from a pump action 12 gauge, shooting 3" slugs, to .375 H&H and it held zero just fine.
