Mulling over placing an order for a LaRue and have a few questions.

tOBR vs OBR:  Which one did you pick and why ?

Also, why no 14.5"/pinned and welded M.D. option on the OBR ?

I have one of each and if I had to choose between one, I'd take the tOBR; it's a bit lighter and I really like the quick release rail and ability to easily change out barrels.

The OBR is really designed from the ground up to shoot far, no 14.5 probably because you start to see some pretty dramatic loss in ballistic performance in most 762's <16".

What do you want to do with the rifle?  The OBR was my first LT love and I'll never part with it but my tOBRs are what I use all the time.  No difference in accuracy but features are a lot more conducive to throwing in the motorcycle and heading to the range or carrying around in the woods all day...especially if it's cold or hot

I got a 16in tOBR I really like the quick barrel change option especially with .260 rem coming out soon (2 weeks).

Got the 16" TOBR since I will be carrying it in wooded area for the most part. I hope to try it out at longer ranges eventually, especially once my newest AR-10 build is completed. I will set the new one up with the EOTech and magnifier off one of my AR-15's and move the Leupold 2.5x8 VX-3 to the AR-15. That particular AR-15 will have a stealth 20 inch barrel on it eventually.....

Shoot it..

I'm also talking about 5.56 rifles here.

It would pretty much be a range toy for shooting out to 100 yards with the occasional foray into 300-400 yard territory (max I have access to and that would be rare).

I don't really have a need for the breakdown ability of the tOBR, but i do like the way the 14.5" rifle looks.

Do both the tOBR and the OBR use the same barrels?

Yes.  Well, you could find it convenient.... just need LaRue to make a 6.5g or 300blk barrel for it so I can actually hunt with it.  The benefits of the OBR are better realized in the large frame platform, though my personal preference is a tAR with a heavy barrel -- didn't score a costa, but I have the FDE heavy in that configuration.

Ohh, just shoot it.  You're supposed to shoot Larue's "lots" so maybe it's not right for you

5.56 I'd go with the tOBR for sure, there might be 300 BO barrels someday.  The tAR's are great for children and 6 and people run them till their hot but I like the heavier barrel on the tOBR, sorry no first had experience with the 556 OBR.

ETA: OBR/tOBR do use the same barrels.

That's another point, do you have a motorcycle?
