Not too long ago I ordered a Stealth barrel for my first AR-15 which I am putting together myself.
Having received all the necessary parts to complete my rifle (sans optic), I decided to put it all together this morning. All went well until I tried to put on the free float hand guard. It just didn't fit as easily over the LaRue gas block as I thought it should. After staring at it for a time, I realized that the gas block was on crooked. From the "bad" end of the barrel it was turned to about 12:30. So, I called LaRue. I spoke with Brandon in Tech support who thought it was possible I didn't have the set screws in the divots. Fair enough. Wouldn't be the first time I made a mistake. Well, I took it apart and that was not the issue. The divots are not machined in their proper location. So, I called back. Brandon was very courteous and went through what I needed to do to return it and what LaRue was doing as well. He also said he was throwing in a complete PredatAR upper and 2 MBT triggers they had just lying around! Just kidding ya Mark! Don't fire Brandon! While I'm disappointed I have to return the barrel, I'm very happy with the customer service I received. I wish every company were this good to deal with. Thanks Mark & Company!!! |

Edit: There is one other possibility. The alignment slot on the upper "could" be in the wrong location. I won't know til I can get the barrel nut off. Which will be later today or tomorrow. I don't have access to a vice here and have to take it to a friend's place. |

I looked at everything six ways from Sunday (a saying my Granny used to say). Here is what I found. It's actually the upper. Already contacted the folks I got it from. So, I will be sending the replacement barrel back without even opening it. It's supposed to arrive today. The folks at LaRue can bill me for the shipping and what have ya. (I'll be sure to call) I shouldn't have jumped the gun (no pun intended) and "assumed" it was the dimples. If anything like this ever happens again, I'll look at every possibility first. |

You shoulda stuck with your original story, sent the barrel in for repairs, gotten it back with a LT stamp of approval, then removed the gas block to check again, duracoated everything because winning, drilled out the misplaced gas hole, and then made an hour long youtube video about it.
