Does anyone know what serial number range Larue switched from LW barrels to the in-house ones? This is for 7.62.

I don't think they are necessarily shipped in order.

Of my 7.62 Larue Rifles, I have an in-house Tobr with a lower serial number, and an LW barreled Tar that was a few years older with a higher number. So I'm not positive that you'll be able to tell by serial. Lore likely production date/test target.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I emailed the serial number to Larue to see if they can tell me also.

That's probably your best bet. They would know build or ship dates and that is probably the best indicator of barrel identification.

Yep, they got back to me. Thanks again, Larue.

If it is a LaRue barrel, it will say "Field Grade" near the muzzle threads for a field grade barrel. It will say LaRue and "Reardon Steel" near the muzzle threads if it is a match grade barrel. I am at work right now so I can't look at both barrels to add any further detail, but those two markings will surely identify the barrel as a LaRue.

How much of a difference is there between the Larue and LW barrels? Are guns with one more desirable than the other?

I have a 14.5" Costa 5.56 / 16" Heavy PredatAR 7.62 with in house barrels and a 16" PredatAR 5.56 / 18" OBR 5.56 with contracted barrels. I don't see where one is any more special to me than the other. They both had to pass LaRue QC and test target goals.

Thanks for all the help. I have a 16" OBR on the way!
