I thought missed the Build-AR email and was actually kind of glad so I wouldn't be put in the predicament of trying to decide if I should un-ass the 2K Alas it was in my spam folder.......I really do like the rifle, but it's hard to justify the 2K even with the extra bolts, I don't know I have a few more hour to mull this over LOL

I slowly came around, but I think I could have gone either way on this one. |

I was on the fence too, but that is probably about where they should be. For comparison, it would cost about $1,300 to build one out one in black: LaRue Billet Lower Combo $200 (each) LaRue Complete AR-15 Match Grade Upper $749 LaRue Tactical MBT-2S Trigger $99 LaRue Tactical RAT Stock $61 LaRue Tactical A-PEG Grip $12 LaRue Receiver Extension w/Castle Nut & Latch Plate $60 Sprinco Buffer Spring $20 Buffer $30 Lower Parts Kit w/o Grip & FCG $25 7-Slot M-LOK Aluminum Rail Section $21 Lancer 10rd Mag $20 That essentially puts a ~$200 premium on the colored receivers and assembly. I think that’s fair. And then there’s the staying on the list. View Quote I’m pretty sure it’s more like 10-11%. And make no mistake - like any other tax, we’re paying it. He’s just collecting it. But it is really irrelevant to the build versus buy comparison I outlined above. The excise tax is baked into our buy cost. I wasn’t comparing his margins. |

View Quote I've been wondering...with the exception of one example that one person from texas posted here, the kits are coming to the FFL's as unassembled configurations. Does anyone know if LaRue logged them as receivers and not rifles since they are shipping unassembled/not as complete rifles? It would be good to know if that's the case because I'll configure mine as a pistol before building as a rifle and ask my FFL accurately to log as a receiver. Thanks |

Instagram aside, it has a buttstock and a 16” barrel. I think you would have a really hard time convincing someone that doesn’t match the definition of a rifle.

View Quote We've seen several people indicate the kits show up like this: Attached File Attached File It would be sort of like buying an assembled lower and an assembled upper from PSA that were never assembled into a complete rifle. If it was never assembled as a rifle, you'd be able to remove the buttstock from the lower and mate the lower with a pistol upper and you'd have a pistol that was good to go. Once configured in that manner, you could remove the pistol upper, install the buttstock and install the rifle upper and have a rifle that could be transitioned back to a pistol as you wished. (Remember it has to go receiver>pistol>16"+ rifle to be able to transition back and forth at the end users preference. If it goes receiver>rifle then it has to stay rifle and can't transition to pistol) Now we did have one fella from Texas post this configuration on the same day of the BuildAR email: Attached File I can only assume that he went to LT's shop and picked it up in person and that it may have been the rifle that was originally setup for the photos since it seems to have the same bipod and came with a case that was different from what was shown on the website as what the kit would arrive in. |

View Quote I just like to maintain as much flexibility as possible. Who knows, LT could be starting a whole new line of FDE anodized kit, it'd be nice to have the option to swap over to pistol configurations with just a UU kit purchase and not having to pick up an additional matching FDE lower. The UU upper started with us so a color option that's anodized and not another production step like cerakote makes sense if Mark wanted to add something. Looks like the IG photo has 142 rifles racked if all three racks are full. I wonder if there was a contract run and we got the spill over or if it's a new offering in the works or what inspired a limited run. Has Mark shared that anywhere yet? |

Here is to hoping that the reason he sends two extra bolts and a extra mbt is to get ready to build some more. Mark if you are listening a 12" pistol upper would be a nice addition to the stable....i actually thought you talked about having a pallet of returned agency guns you might offer up if the list dropped in size....well im guessing the list dropped some today.

Another nice touch I noticed. The RAT Stock also includes the RAT Rods with it.
I think that’s a $25 add-on option if you’re buying the stock. |

I'm officially on the outside, looking in. I couldn't justified to spend $2k on a riffle when I can put that towards steel targets, ammo and/or gear. But, I will continue to look in here tho. Hopefully the next cool thing, there will be someone who doesn't want it, but wants to stay on the list. Maybe I can buy it off someone
Anybody wants to sale a BCG? lol |

I surveyed my stash and I'm good on LT BCGs, so I'm unloading the BuildAR BCGs on the EE. Same with the MBT. The proceeds will go to my Black & Tan Optic Fund (BTOF).

I just picked mine up. Thought it strange there was no test target. Those that received theirs, did you get a test fired target?

I’m wanting to try the 73 grain Berger’s when I can find some. I just picked up my Black and Tan today, so it’ll be a day or two before I shoot it, but it sure is purty. Obviously enter into those hand loads with caution. |

if anyone knows of a bulk supplier of accurate .223 bullets that are more reasonable im looking for 10-20k as why not jump in with both feet..lol im not looking for super premium but would like them to group in a golfball at 100 yards, is there a bulk bullet that fits the bill?
|
|
|
Almost any hand loads will shoot better groups. My mixed brass blasting loads for competition still shoots 1.5” versus 2.25 with federal bulk. Golf balls are bigger than MOA at 100 so literally anything except pull downs lighter than 77gr should fit the bill. Look for Hornady in bulk and you’ll be good to go.
Attached File All of these sport some version of black and tan. |

Damage industries has some anodized FDE MLOK rails that are a darn close match to the LT Tan. They are just a hair darker but not by much. Made in USA and not terribly expensive, especially if you catch a sale.

how is everyone's color match from the upper to the handguard, my upper is almost gold and the handguard and lower closer to tan...im kinda surprised in a 2k rifle and with larues attention to detail that the color is this different.
so how is everyone else's match or am i expecting too much at this price point? |

View Quote In average light it's a darn near exact match. Under bright halogen lights from my stove hood and under cabinet lighting I can see a slight difference in the upper being a touch lighter than the handguard and lower. Since these are anodized and not a spray finish some variation will be present. Compared to other manufacturers offering anodized rifles [Big G and a few others] this is as close to a perfect match as I've ever seen by far and it's a match that is better than I'd expect for the price point. |
