Mark, I love the fact that my tOBR breaks down into pieces that fit in a case that is not an obvious gun case for travel. As you can see from the link, I put the barrel protector on the barrel and then mount the barrel and hand guard together into the foam in my Pelican 1560. In order to keep the barrel from rattling around inside the hand guard, I wrap the barrel protector in a thin piece of closed cell foam and shove it in the handguard. A much better solution would be to make the barrel protector so that when the barrel is inserted into the hand guard, only the Teflon/Delrin touches the hand guard. If there was also a lip so that the clips that hold the hand guard to the upper could be used to clamp the barrel protector into the hand guard, it would be perfect. At the other end of the barrel, I insert two triangle shaped pieces of closed cell foam at the top and bottom of the barrel to keep the muzzle end from rattling. This actually works well because the foam triangle pieces are pretty large but the thin layer of foam at the barrel protector end only lasts a few trips.

This would be a minor mod to the barrel protector design and would make traveling with a tOBR much easier!

BTW, This allows me to travel with my 14.5" 7.62 tOBR and my PWS .300 BLK pistol as show in the photo. In fact I took the photos tonight as I pack up to fly home to TX for some hog reduction therapy.

Many thanks for so many excellent pieces of very functional art!
