I had some time on my hands while waiting for HH6 to get ready for shopping (you know the routine, hair. clothes, makeup, etc., seems like it takes about 2 hours).  I installed my MBT in the PtOBR and took the opportunity to do some some less than scientific testing using a Wheeler Trigger Pull Scale (spring, not digital). FWIW, I was surprised at the amount of slack in the LMT and the low pull weight of the ARG.  I like the wider face of the MBT, the low rate of curve on the trigger and the consistency at 3.5lbs; it's a keeper.

ETA - I tested the ARG and MBT a second time.  The ARG was consistent at 2.5lbs.  The MBT dropped .5lbs to a consistent 3.5lbs. Spreadsheet updated.

ETA II - Upgrade to a digital scale and retested. Results are in pounds and ounces.

Wow...took me long enough...

Just posted this to the Larue Website as well.

I won a MBT trigger through the Christmas giveaway and finally got a chance to install it over the weekend.  I went from a RRA 2 stage trigger that I absolutely loved.  Always felt nice and light. That all changed the moment I function checked/dry fired my rifle with this trigger installed.  Wow.  Hands down THE BEST trigger I've put pressure on.  Clean, crisp break, very light (and I thought the RRA was light).  I can barely feel the break on this trigger.  Reset is nice with a solid click.  Overall, amazing trigger. I can honestly see me buying this trigger for all my ARs.

This trigger gave me wood...my wife was not amused.

One thing I notice with this trigger is that one you get past the super light first stage, it doesn't move a micron (or atleast feel like it does) until it breaks.  I wont beable to really give any "real world" feedback for a few months when I get it to the range side by side my SSA-E. But if I remember correctly I can start to feel the SSA-E move right before it breaks. Not sure if that is good or not until I can compare side by side.

A mystery! So does the cut versus drill manufacturimg alter the strength of that assembly? I wouldn't expect pin shearing forces to be put on a trigger but what do I know, I don't make triggers.

Bump with some shooting today with the MBT.  14.5" tOBR with an inexpensive Mueller 8.5-25 (my eyes aren't what they used to be).  I only had an hour on the range and heck, it took 20 minutes to set up and another 15 to sight the optic, so I was barely shooting when it was time to leave (waiting list bumped me).  I still haven't settled down for this bench rest stuff (lower left flyer), but the MBT was consistent and had a clean second stage break that made it easy to stay on target.

Just got this trigger. Installed it in my Noveske Gen III Recon. Haven't shot it yet (will hit up range tomorrow). But here are my initial thoughts from just dry firing. Trigger I had in my rifle before was a Wilson Combat TTU-M2, two-stage. And I did install it in another, identical lower to compare back-to-back and side-by-side. Trigger was liberally oiled at the proper places with Slip2000 EWL. I am not an expert. I am simply relaying my opinion with what I feel as I actuate both triggers.

Fit and finish of the trigger itself looks good. Contact surfaces on sear, disconnector, etc. do NOT appear to be polished. But maybe it's just hard to see. On my Wilson Combat, all the mating surfaces are clearly polished smooth.

Not sure if it matters or not, but the forward-facing surface of the hammer does not clear the receiver frame. i.e. with the upper receiver off, the hammer rests against the frame and not against the bolt catch/release like on many other triggers I've seen. I do notice that the Larue trigger design was changed. If you take a look at these two photos, you'll see the architecture of the hammer between the two is different (among other things), which accounts for the hammer resting on the frame. Again, I'm not saying this is a bad thing. I don't know either way. It's just something I noticed.

The trigger itself is beautiful. I'm talking about the trigger bow. The part you put your finger on. I like that it's wider than other triggers. And the face of the trigger bow sits slightly farther forward. I have longer fingers so it's more comfortable than my Wilson Combat TTU-M2 and the ALG I had before.

There is slack in the trigger. Such that when you apply slight pressure to the first stage, before the trigger begins to actually move, the entire trigger assembly moves in the frame a bit. Not sure if this is normal. My Wilson Combat trigger didn't do this. And the stock ALG Defense ACT trigger didn't do this either. And I can actually see the trigger pin wiggling around a bit until the slack is taken up. I replaced the trigger pin with the one from my ALG trigger and it helped a bit, but the slack is still there a little. With the hammer cocked, and the safety on (no fire), there is bit of slack in the trigger and you can pull it back slightly with a "click". This "slack" seem sto be, again, the trigger itself moving in the frame. With the Wilson Combat, there is no slack—with the rifle in "safe" there is no wiggle.

The first stage of this trigger is seemingly twice as long compared to the Wilson Combat TTU-M2.

The first stage of this trigger is a little gritty and "slow." If I release my finger quickly, the trigger "lags" and does not move forward instantly, it takes time for the trigger to return to its resting position. Maybe with a thousand rounds down range it will smooth out?

The second-stage break of the Larue trigger is heavier than my Wilson Combat TTU-M2. I don't have a trigger pull gauge. But there is a significant difference. With the Wilson Combat trigger, I am "surprised" when it breaks. Not so much with the Larue.

No over-travel on either trigger.

Reset is longer on the Larue trigger. But both triggers have an authoritative reset "click."

The break itself is pretty good. The Wilson's break is more of a clear, concise "snap." The Larue's break has more of a mechanical feel to it. Hard to describe, but I can "feel" the moving parts in the trigger when it breaks. It's subtle. But it's there.

Overall I could instantly tell a difference in feel between the two triggers. Wilson's is "sharper" and "faster" and more "concise." Larue's feels more like a Geissele SSA-E. It's a little sluggish and definitely heavier in pull, with less of a "candy cane" break.

I will post back after my range trip tomorrow. But initial thoughts are that it seems like a decent trigger, but maybe geared toward the "combat" and "tactical" side of things, rather than a precision target trigger. Thus far, I much prefer the Wilson. Although, I do like the trigger bow on the Larue a whole lot more.

Yeah. I have two Noveske Gen III lowers. One is newer though. Manufacturing dates are about 6-8 months apart or so.

Not quite the "identical" I envisioned, but I get your drift. Down into the tenths of thousandths, between those two lowers, there is likely a between-centers pin hole difference, or ... pin holes slightly bigger or slightly smaller or out-of-round, or not perpendicular / parallel, etc.

Since you've gone this far, perhaps exchanging triggers in the two different-era lowers is now in order.

Do keep in mind, if you're not happy with it, not a problem, we'll take it back.  And install it into one of our demo rifles.

And for a different perspective that just hit our website review box ...

"MBT arrived late yesterday so unfortunately missed my range day & so far only a dry fire evaluation. Right out of the can I was very impressed with the physical characteristics of the trigger. It looks heavy but a more accurate description would be "solid". This trigger says nothing but quality & is true to LaRue's product description. The MBT was incredibly easy to install the only tool I needed was to push the hammer pin out past its keeper spring as the hammer pin is shipped in place & must be removed first. Both main trigger components & pins were easily pushed into place & only a slight tap on the hammer pin was needed to again overcome its internal keeper spring. The initial take up is very light but is solidly stopped as it hits the second stage. The second stage breaks on demand like a pencil lead & I really like the wide shoe. I installed the MBT on my .458 SOCOM mainly because I wanted a trigger that could take that quick reactionary shot without any surprises. I cant compare this to my (GA) DMR triggers because those rifles are just purposed differently. Because of the .458's heavier recoil I have experienced a couple of bumpfires using the DMR's. With the MBT I'm confident I will have better control. For my .458 SOCOM the MBT was the wise choice."

I've already swapped the two triggers around between the lowers. That was before I wrote the above post. So my initial thoughts took that into account.

Also, I'm about to send you a PM with a question.
