I have a PredatAR 7.62 with a 16" barrel and want to change the muzzle device.
Was Rocksett used on the muzzle device?
What is the torque setting on the on the rail hex screws? Do I use Locset when I re-install the screws?

Thank you

my surefire break that was installed from the factory was installed using locktight.  That was back in 2012.

I needed to swap out the muzzle device on my OBR 7.62 before I pulled the trigger the first time.  I bought a golf club rubber shaft clamp and split it so that the OBR barrel fit.  I then tightened it down in my shop vise and removed the factory muzzle device.  I had previously removed a brake (different gun) that was installed with Rocksett and expected the Larue factory muzzle device to be difficult to remove.  It came off considerably easier than I had expected.  The rubber shaft clamp was a $3 investment and it allowed me to install my QD adapter with no fuss.

Guess it all comes down to which M.D. was factory-installed. Surefires seem to be loctited and A2s are not. Mine came with an A2 and crushwasher - no loctite.

Good tips, and to my understanding, Rocksett isn't any tougher to "break" loose than blue loctite. Just holds up to the heat.

I tried the gorilla method and could not get the device to spin off. I researched the topic and found that if you soak the muzzle device secured with Rocksett in hot, soapy water overnight, the Rocksett dissolved to a point and the device was easily removed.

Rocksett is supposed to standup to roughly 2000 degrees F, IIRC, while blue locktite is somewhere between 250-350 degree F.  The blue locktite will require more torque to break than Rocksett which requires roughly 30#s.  Surefire ships their devices with Rockset for the heat resistance, not the torque resistance.
