I took my rifle to the range for the first time today after a thorough inspection and light cleaning. I fired 8 rounds and had 8 failures to extract. Each time I would fire a round the the rifle would not cycle. a few I was able to yank the charging handle back and clear the rifle but most of them I had to get a rod and tap the casing out. Unfortunately I only had CBC M80 ball ammo with me today so I couldn't eliminate it as a probable cause. I've disassemble the rifle and reseated the barrel. I didn't have the wrench with me so I couldn't do that while at the range. Any idea what I should look for when I go back to the range with some different ammo tomorrow?
1/18: Took the rifle back out to the range this morning with some Federal Gold Metal Match ammo. Fired a round and the rifle did not cycle. Unlike yesterday I was easily able to pull the charging handle back and eject the shell. Oddly it was completely cool. I chambered another round and had the same thing happen. I switched the gas block over and put the suppressor on and tried again. Still got the same result. Ultimately I took the barrel off and tried blowing through the gas tube and while I've never tried that before it doesn't seem like anything is getting through. Next step is to pull the gas tube and see if there is something in there. 1/29: The upper has been at LaRue since Monday. I received a call with an update this afternoon. Engineering isolated the problem to the gas block but I didn't get any details beyond that. Unfortunately for them since I have a 14.5 they can't simply put a new one on so I'm getting a new barrel. Its going to be put through its paces in the morning and should be on its way back to me after that. The guys at LaRue have been awesome getting this resolved. I'm looking forward to getting back out to the range. |

Does the PredatOBR rifles come with two different buffer springs? If so put in the lighter of the two. Is the switchblock set to suppressed? Only one spring. I tried the suppressed and unsuppressed positions. Same problem. The cases are just getting stuck in the barrel. |

Updated. What does "it's the gas system" mean ? Bad block ? Bad tube ? etc. ? That means it's apparent that there is a blockage or misalignment Not allowing gas flow. That's what I'm reading. |

Correct. I pulled the roll pin on the gas tube but I can't get it out. Out of curiosity I hooked my little compressor up to the gas tube and while I didn't have a great seal, I could see oil seeping out around the tube at the gas block when I ran the air. That tells me the air had nowhere to go. I know they test fired the barrel (it's my second one by the way, the first one had the wrong muzzle device on it and it was pinned and welded) because I have signed target. So who knows what happened. Regardless I'll be calling Monday to get an RMA number for it. |

I had a box and the range I was at was nice enough to exchange the box I bought for anything else. Everything else I've tried: PMC, Winchester, PRVI PARTIZAN all work flawlessly. Hornady .308 Win tends to burr up where the ejector rests but no problems. |

Short of disassembling the gas block completely, I've tried everything I can think of. I can't figure out why the gas tube won't come out with the roll pin removed. With my luck, I'll send it in and it will work just fine but I'd rather have you guys check it out and not risk doing some damage. |

I shot my 762 14.5 Tobr yesterday. I had many many malfunctions. I tried everything, pmags and larue mags, m80 ball and 168 fgmm. It would fire a round and not extract, or it would extract and while on the forward stroke the bolt would grind to a stop on top of the next round in the mag. While dropping the bolt to load the weapon the forward speed of the bolt was noticeably slow and seemed like it was binding, many times it would not load and would be out of battery. Well, I did this process of loading and firing for about an hour when I started seeing some difference due to break in. The weapon was finally cycling properly, but still with an occasional hiccup as previously described. After the 200 round mark things seemed much better. I shot my next 100 rounds problem free. It stinks to have to blow through 300 rounds to achieve break in, I can say that, but I knew break in was the issue. These rifles are super tight and very we'll made and they just need some time.
I feel it's a matter of break in. The rifle was silly accurate, and when I put my T1 on it it was already zeroed |
