| I have been mulling this over for quite a while. I think it can be a smart business decision for LaRue Tactical to bring barrel manufacturing in house. I understand that is a huge undertaking and requires time to get it right. But I am really wondering why LaRue doesn't purchase barrels to complete the rifles and clear the back orders while moving forward with developing the barrel making process? |
Possibly because if they ordered from another barrel maker at this point they would be at the end of that manufacturers order list? And/or they don't want the any new guns out there with various other barrels as opposed to their own? Pure speculation at this point but what the hell time to speculate is all we've got.
|
| Hindsight being 20/20, if barrels are the problem, LaRue should have just kept sending rifles out with LW barrels and then once they had them perfected started shipping rifles with the LT barrels. Mark could have come in and surprised us with a post about the in house barrels and everyone would have been happy and congratulatory. Instead, a lot of people are pissed off, and justifiably so. But, it's Mark's company and he'll run it how he wants to. Unless LT collapses under the weight of its own screw up, which I don't see happening, I'm in it for the long haul. |

Anyone certain the barrel on the most recent TOBR is a LT barrel? Only marking photographed looks to be the same as one on a 2012 gun. TOBR http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g94/aekdb390/DSC_8133_zpsafd28764.jpg 7/7/12 photo from the TAR thread http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o570/swampdonkey13/047.jpg Has LT confirmed that Tobr has a barrel from the new set up? You mean the ONE and only POBR that was produced....it's looks like a LW barrel to me... |

Burnt bridges in the industry would be my guess as well. Mark is a machining genius, but he has a reputation for pissing people off in the industry with his Texas spec ego. There is no barrel shortage lasting two years. |

When the 'tbor shots moa all day' thread popped up, I commented on how we should expect probably 6 months of R&D on the new barrels to fine tune. Mark replied "Meh, I'm scouring the internet for self-loaders shooting this same five 5-shot group challenge and finding 24" cut rifled barrels using every-kernel-weighed handloads shooting in the .900s ... "
So I highly doubt barrels are the issue. ETA: Unless he underestimated the challenges of 'mass' producing the barrels. I'm betting its something we haven't heard about yet. Probably another redesign. |

Yeah if Mark treats his suppliers like he does us, its probably the case that nobody will even sell him a barrel at this point. winner winner chicken dinner.....If this is not the case someone from LaRue Tactical should speak up. And I don't mean one of the cheerleading fanboys. |

It is obviously NOT the barrels at this point. I am pretty sure he has his barrels fined tuned and within the MOA specs that he needs. My guess is .gov, He has to fill "certain orders" first due to obligations to this Nation
Of course this is purely speculation I would tend to agree on this. How could you go so long not selling product and still be in business? All those machines don't cost pennies. You would think the issue of paying the bills would be forcing LT to move as fast as possible to ship product unless they are shipping to gov and to hell with us civilians. |

That means Mark started investing lots of his own money in equipment before Sandy Hook. I'm sorry, but I'm sick of people suggesting that LaRue suckered customers into becoming "investors." Mark may have created a huge PR mess here, but he's not screwing customers out of money. The proof of that is that anyone can get a refund, and many have. Please don't accuse a man of running his business illegally until you have your facts straight. And especially don't accuse a man like Mark who has done many honorable things to support his customers and our troops over the years. I've had a tOBR on order for 15 months. I'm not happy about the wait, and the lack of info, and the vague updates. But it really makes me mad to see people slander a man who really does care about his customers, our troops, and our eroding liberties. |

So why did he say a few weeks and nothing has happened minus the two predatobrs going to one guy!, |

You're joking, right? LT decided to make barrels long before they offered to pre-make lowers to help customers avoid a ban. Yeah, and they also knew that they were going to be making barrels, said nothing at the time of order and still promised 16 weeks. Not exactly in their favor. That means Mark started investing lots of his own money in equipment before Sandy Hook. I'm sorry, but I'm sick of people suggesting that LaRue suckered customers into becoming "investors." Also, you have to factor in that AR prices have gone up quite a bit for those of us that have ordered pre-panic. Getting a refund isn't exactly an even cost proposition. Please don't accuse a man of running his business illegally until you have your facts straight. Oh, I think people here would welcome a bit of explination. Rather the crux of the problem eh? IMO, the "really does care" about the customer part I 'm not seeing. I see a lot of ambition, CS theater (tOBR delivery) and some big-buisness style decisions, but total unresponsiveness to customers. I think he knows that he's already alienated a fraction of his customers and has writtem those poeple off. |
